I should have read this before spending all that effort making "An Exceptional Short Story" and then spending 325 CP of Connected: Bohemians to become a Journalist. I figured that Author would be the best paying option before becoming notable, but it's true: Use of Villans is worth a lot more when I'm actually going to use them for something. And trying to get the rare result from the ruthless option on "The little people" card just takes too long, at least considering that it's capped at Shadowy 118. (So many good cards capped at 118... Whyyy?)
Now I have to decide if I should collect a few Nights on the Town before spending 325 CP of my precious Connected: Revolutionaries.

If you still have access to the University, you can acquire Use of Villains by converting up Cryptic Clues from grinding Investigating... there and then spending it in the Flit. Potentially shady, perhaps, but so is anything you're buying with villains.
You can also grind them at a flat 50/action around London, with some better options at I think Hunter's Keep and maybe some other places.

How practical is it to get the Majestic Pleasure Yacht without using fate? Is the challenge always strongly against you?

The odds are always against you, but it's certainly doable without Fate. You might even get lucky and succeed on the first try (or it might take 10 tries). Up to you whether you want to fight the odds or pay a bit to get it without the risk of hassle.

I got mine by gambling and in one way I was lucky I had another items to gamble three times in a row and succeeded on the third attempt.
