Twincandles, Anticandles, and Listening Candles are only available before our initial escape from New Newgate - given that they have spaces set aside for them on the "Story" page, it would be nice to earn a few, and fill those gaping holes.

I never even heard of these things!

Cortez the Killer has killed a Master, definitely.
Deepdelver has become the progenitor of London's brightest star. It's... complicated.

They're merely alternate second chance items. Really, there's no point in even keeping them in the game anymore, especially since their spot in the UI could easily be replaced with a menace display. The same goes for Surprise Attack Plans.

I wonder if there's anyone out there in POSI range who still has a Listening Candle, and could trade in Theosophistical Research for a Letter of Introduction and break the interface.

Is there any efficient way of getting souls for people who are only of little importance? My only options seem to be a few opportunity cards, a quite tedious casing job, and a storylet in Ladybones Road which yields roughly 20 per turn. Am I just best off buying them?

There's always the Capering Relicker, though he's uncommon. What levels are your highway attributes after equipment? Also, what do you need the souls for? Because if it's for the Embassy suite, you can get the alternate materials for that challenge from the Big One storyline in the Flit.

Before PoSI, a lot of what's available to you really depends on what stage you're at. For example, right now I'm actually in a rut on Watchul (Right at the end of Ladybones before going to the Fourth Quarter), and the latest storylet in Ladybones is giving me souls (Probably the storylet you're mentioning). It's a 56 pence worth of sell worth (as souls sell for 2 pence each), so you'd need to earn at least 112 pence per action to make it more worthwhile to sell stuff and buy souls. And that's not happening until you hit about 112 in your stats (Sell price for goods earned from an action tend to be the stat you need for a "chancy" difficulty there)

Thank you both. Very precisely, I am at 109 in Watchful, 103 in Persuasive, 96 in Shadowy, and, uh, 16 in Dangerous. And yes, it is for the Embassy suite. I intend to buy a Brass Ring from the Bazaar (as I only need one), and am in the process of obtaining the other items through combination, though it is pretty wasteful for my actions.

I'm intrigued: how can you obtain the necessary items through "The Big One" in the Flit? I've robbed the Brass Embassy about three times now, but I have to combine items to get Muscaria Brandy and Brilliant Souls.

The rewards have changed. http://community.failbettergames.com/topic208-tweaks-and-enhancements-for-the-festival.aspx

Presumably robbing the Embassy now gives one or both of Brilliant Souls and Muscaria Brandy, though it's too early for the wikis to confirm this.

Ah. That's... very helpful. Very helpful indeed.
*feels rather silly for spending the past few days only combining Infernal Items*
I suppose that's why it pays off to wait until the end of an update.

The rewards from the previously available robberies haven't changed in this update. However, you might find that there are delicious new options for your larcenous talents.

Oh? That's even better news. Presumably acquiring the items this way will be less risky, then.
