Strange Circles on the Map

Ok, so this is new. What the devil are the weird concentric circles on the map? They were definitely not there a few days ago. One is under Badstevener's Abyss, right outside London, so I know it cannot represent a vortex. In fact, I am fairly sure that none of these weird circles are in the same location as a vortex.

My guess is that they represent locations that will feature on both above and below-Zee maps, to provide points of reference.

Considering they're over the various underwater rifts and chasms, I'd say these are diving points for zubmarines. I'm excited now.

yes, I noticed they mark the positions of the various abyss. The idea of organicmcgee sounds correct, nice!

Indeed. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw them was: That's got to have something to do with the Zubmarine expansion!
