Whitsun is here!

Whitsun is here: a new festival in Fallen London!

Eggs have abruptly appeared all over London – in bath tubs, balanced on chimneys, nestled in sofas, tucked in the holds of docked ships. And they’re vast ones, the size of a beer barrel, an over-rounded dog, a prize-winning marrow.

Acquire an egg. Apply augmentations to it, if you like. Why not? The d___ed things are everywhere, and while London is hardly short on distractions, they’re wonderfully novel - though they do take up quite a bit of space in your parlour.

Incubate eggs, one at a time. What will happen when they hatch? Who knows! Each will take 24 hours to hatch unless you, ahem, assist it.

What else to do with them? Try sending one to a friend. Surely no more dangerous than a boxed cat!

Also: there’s a gathering of gourmets who will sample almost anything. The Apicius Club. These connoisseurs of novel flavours are reconvening for the festivities, and willing to take all manner of delicacies off your hands, including but not limited to these tempting, giant ova. Look for De Gustibus in Whitsun at Ladybones Road to make their acquaintance.

Employ SCIENCE to further your egg experiments!

Purchase a Highly Illegal Experimental Augmentation Device (Probably) in order to get the very most out of your eggs, or investigate them in your University Lab.

Investigating the eggs in your University Lab will increase your Red Science and Shapeling Arts.

Whitsun begins today, 11th May 2020, and will conclude on the 22nd. Please note that to prevent a dreadful stench, all eggs will be removed on the 25th of May, including any which you have not hatched.

Enjoy your eggs!

Compiling information.

Event will last until 22 of May. All remaining eggs will rot at 25 of May.

Prices
Aged - 100 Jade
Scarlet - 20 Greyfields 1882
Invigoration - 3 stages - 3 Appaling Secret each
Enlightenment - 3 stages - 5 Foxfire Candles, 2 Intriguing Snippet each
Augmentation Device - 5 Ha’Pennies, on storylet for treating your egg. Permanent item. Can produce additional pets and gives special project in your lab.

De Gustibus in Ladybones Road
You can sell untreated eggs for cheap, or fully treated and augmented for more.
It doesn’t matter which augmentation you apply, and you cannot do without it.

Aged Untreated - 1 Extraordinary Implication, 250 Pennies, 2 CP Making Waves
Scarlet Untreated - 250 Whispered Hints, 250 Pennies, 3 CP Making Waves
Invigorated Aged - 500 bone fragments, 250 pennies, 20 PC Making Waves
Enlightened Aged - 500 bone fragments, 250 pennies, 20 PC Making Waves
Invigorated Scarlet -
Enlightened Scarlet -

You can also crack your eggs as a luck test.
Scarlet - Human Arm on failure.
Aged - 1 Jurassic Femur and 1 Unidentified Thigh on success/ 3 Compromising Documents OR Correspondance Plaque x1 (???) on failure(???)

Your Lab
Both eggs require 125 ordinary research. Both are repeatable.
Aged gives 1 CP Red Science.
Scarlet gives 1 CP Shapeling Arts.
Augmentation gizmo gives another project.
3 Ha’Pennies lets you hire Numismatrix permanently, removing future coin costs.

Hatching
After fully treating the egg you can hatch it.
Hatching requires 24 hours or 1 Ha’Penny.
Sending egg ready for hatching to someone else switches to different pet for a cost of 1 Ha’Penny.
Using augmenting gizmo gets you yet another one.

Another option is to get a specific augmentation for your fully treated egg, for a small fee, in London:
Flit - Enlightened Aged - Sly - 6 Compromising Documents
Mahogany Hall - Enlightened Aged - 2 Mourning Candles
Mrs. Plenty’s Carnival - Enlightened Scarlet - Very Latest of Fashions -
Wolfstack Docks - Enlightened Scarlet - Contorting -
Dept. of Menace Eradication - Invigorated Aged - Grotesque - 6 Correspondence Plaques
Labyrinth of Tigers - Invigorated Aged - 2 Extraordinary Implications
Veilgarden - Invigorated Scarlet - Ornate - 2 Journals of Infamy
Shuttered Palace - Invigorated Scarlet - Rejecting Conventions - 2 Tales of Terror

Alternatively, you can take your ready egg to a tailor in Ladybone Road.
It’ll turn your egg into unique garment instead of pets.
Both types of egg and treatments change the result.
Each fitting costs 3 Ha’Pennies.

So far the only source of Ha’Pennies is Fate. Most likely, none other will appear.

Chatting with Effervescent Charcutier or trying to give a wrong egg to an augmenter or tailor in London will advance your “Speculation about Whitsun” quality. So far no clue to its use.

I have both a life and a job besides this game and cannot keep track all the time, so if someone takes it from me when I’m absent, I’ll appreciate it.
The best way would be to make a guide at FL wiki (https://fallenlondon.fandom.com), but I suck at it.

Myself I’m skipping the whole collecting chase for none-of-your-business reasons, so I’ll have to rely on item info from you.

Good idea would be to assign some options to different people here to collect information quickly.
Augmentations around London, each needs maxed attribute:
Flit - Enlightened Aged
Mrs. Plenty’s Carnival - Enlightened Scarlet
Mahogany Hall - Enlightened Aged
Wolfstack Docks - Enlightened Scarlet
Dept. of Menace Eradication - Invigorated Aged
Veilgarden - Invigorated Scarlet
Shuttered Palace - Invigorated Scarlet
Labyrinth of Tigers - Invigorated Aged
Ladybones Road - both of each for unique clothes instead, 3 Ha’Pennies per round

De Gustibus - will consume any egg for payment
Now to just find out what outcome each of these options produces.

Also, what exactly does the augmentation device do?

According to A matter of Husbandry invigorated scarlet eggs are &quotPersuasive and impossible to ignore&quot and enlightened scarlet eggs are &quotRetiring and observant&quot
If that’s true, then by process of elimination the outcome of the aged egg is either Shadowy or Dangerous.

You can also send ready-for-hatching eggs to others for a single Ha’penny and the results are unique to that option. Looks like there’s going to be quite a lot of egg-trading!

Easy enough to guess it’ll be the bishop for dangerous, Flit option for shadowy. Probably Mahogany Hall mostly for more shadowy, Department of menace eradication for dangerous again. No doubt some sort of variation in the outcomes, but what remains to be seen.

A quick note for anyone who disliked the Hire Numi for 50 FCC each time option: With a few of these halfpennies (3 or 5,I THINK it’s 3) you can permanently hire her to forever skip the 50 FCC fee on firing/rehiring.

If you have no interest in the INSANE fate cost here, and you can’t afford a illegal device for study, it might be worth spending here.

How do you get more Ha’pennies as well?

So far, I’ve hatched a scarlet egg & an aged egg at my house, no augments. The aged egg I did Invigorate, the Scarlet I did enlighten. Got a different creature from each. Young terror bird (+3 Dangerous), then a suspicious iguana (+3 watchful). Somewhere in there, I also got an operatic lyrebird (+5 Persuasive; +3 watchful). I THINK, it was a scarlet invigorated egg with an augmentation from Veilgarden only.

Currently, I have let the kids at the Flit do an augment on my aged egg, & the folks at Mahogany hall do one (same egg). No idea what it’s doing. Edit: Never will, sold it to De Gustibus. Whoops

Messing with a scarlet egg in my lab got me shapling arts & some trembling amber.

That’s all I am at so far & too much money spent on fate.

It would rather seem Fate is the only way to get ha’pennies.

Why exactly would you need to repeatedly rehire the Numismatrix?

And yes, the fate costs do seem rather steep. Then again, I suppose it’s hardly out of line with, say, the Feast of the Rose. If you were to go out of your way to acquire every companion, well…

De Gusitbus aged egg augmented = 500 bone fragments, 20 change point of making waves, 250 pence.

Doing an awful job at keeping records of things:
Aged egg, invigorated
One augment from department of menace, one from Labyrinth, one from experimental device.
Result: One 2 headed terror bird (can see my journal for it’s hatching). Stats are +5 Shadowy, +7 Dangerous, +3 Dreaded, +1 Monstrous Anatomy.

Does anyone know what “Speculation about Whitsun” accomplishes? I ‘m at 5 with no clue.

A friend has sent me a Wizened (Enlightened 3 Aged) Egg And it contained &quotDilly&quot a +3Shadowy Companion

Update:
I got a Crimson Egg through mail (Invigorated 3 Scarlet) and it contained a Mycological Bullfrog, a +3 Persuasive Companion
edited by Honeyaddict on 5/11/2020

It’s a quality under Progress in the ‘Myself’ section. I imagine that it is similar to the one for lacre at christmas. Though it doesn’t seem to give any particular glues as far as I can tell. Maybe it’s tracked for something that comes later.

Cracking Results:
Success Scarlet Unaugmented;
Human Arm x1

Failed Unaugmented Aged;
Compromising Documents x3 OR Correspondance Plaque x1 (either of these, I have been succesful but hadn’t written it down)

Aged Egg, Enlightened
Mahogany - 2 mourning Candles - Mirror Shine Aug
Flit - Cost ?? (didn’t pay attention) - Sly Augmentation
Experimental Augmentation
Reflected Minotaur - +7 Shadowy, +5 Dangerous, +1 Dreaded, +1 Bizarre, +1 Glasswork

So it seems the Device, much like the Tailor, produces results that have nice Parabolic skills and BDR but are otherwise nothing very special.

Unexpectedly, I’m sick of the whole pay2collect model, so I’m out.
I’ll finish De Gustibus, Enlightenment costs and cracking results, and then someone, please, take the whole hatching thing from there.
It would be prudent to assign options to some people here BEFORE scampering to hatch, so that the spreadsheet could be filled in less trials and errors, but that’s up to you.
Also, nice cause to dust off your twink accounts, for reconnaisance.
