Whitsun 2025 is here!

It’s reassuring to have a rough idea exactly what is going to come back and bite us in a month or two. Grand Clearing-out 2.0, here we go!

Fantastic, thank you for writing all this up!

One small thing I would add: The Red Science transport is cheaper than its replacement, although not by as much as two Robes. The other MA transport is free, the other non-worm KT transport costs 30 Aestival Tokens, so basically the same as the new one. The other Red Science Transport costs 50 Aestival Tokens, so the Wolf is cheaper. And as you mention, my Red Science currently lags Glasswork by quite a few points.

I went for the KT one myself since that’s the Advanced Skill I have the least bonuses for.

I have all the companions from previous years, so it is time to start getting the other items.
This year I am spending my Amber Ha’Pennies on a Honed Ushanka. (KT hat)
I’ll also get the Seven-League Spindlewolf from Mr Hearts. (A bit more watchful than any of my other transports)

Then it is time to see what else happens with eggs (lab, De Gustibus and smashing them)

I’m really impressed at the way they keep adding new things to the established events, I’d just been starting to be familiar enough with the newer holidays that they weren’t so exciting anymore, but now there’s the chance of something new to look forward to! Also, nice we get a bonus free transport plus the story one on top of our regular Whitsun allowance!

I did exactly as @fishandchips suggested and bought the illegal hatching device on year two. Note that if you take this path, you can spend one ha’penny this year and still have five next year to pay for the device.

Having said that, if you are a player that doesn’t mind spending some fate (and some real-world money), spending it to get the illegal hatching device this year is one of the best investments of fate that I’m aware of. The companions from thrice augmented eggs are valuable and very impactful, especially for newer player’s that don’t yet have access to late game companions.

Also, I’d suggest focusing on companions that can help you with large objectives that you have not yet completed. For instance, the Dream-dwelling carnivorous Aurochs can save you a ton of resources when building parabolan defences.

Hopefully the “One Free Transport, one Transport for Ha’pennies” dynamic continues for future Whitsuns.
For 2026 I’m probably gonna go with Enlightened Eggs again since I missed out on the Summer PoC Transport and the only others for both it an Shapeling Arts are Fatelocked at Christmas.

“additional Transports will require 30 Fate each.”

Ouch!

Oh, nooo!! Summer existential threat event again.

My plans for this whitsun:

  1. Glasswork transport.
  2. Red science + Neathproofed weapon.
  3. Hellworm cheese rotation.
  4. Sayonara, Noman.
  5. Scar for Apicus club (missed last year).
  6. Four more lvl 3 augmenation beasts as backup for Agents.

Or 3 pennies. The option was added shortly after Whitsun started as it wasn’t in the initial plan.

Huh! I wonder if they’ll be available next year…

Considering their requirements, I would say no;
Percipient Eggs are abundant this year. and Aged Eggs are abundant this year.

Can someone tell me what’s the checklist of things generally worth doing for endgame players during Whitsun, besides hatching the eggs? In terms of EPA or unique possibilities?

So far I only got:

Is there anythimg more that’s farmable?

Also, what’s the community consensus about “The Summer Nursery”? Is it considered interesting in terms of story or mechanical gains, or is it outdated and not worth the Fate?

The schoolmistress is an interesting character but I’m not sure the story content is quite worth the fate cost. The core of the 10-action carousel requires outfit changes between most actions so it’s somewhat frustrating to play. It’s fractionally more profitable at Whitsun, but if my maths is right you still don’t top 5 EPA so for cash-value you’re better elsewhere. It’s an easy source of venom rubies and emetic revelations if you’re short - I just used all my revelations getting rid of Liberation Of The Night in the Khanate so wanted to stock back up - but otherwise it’s very much a curiosity that I constantly forget how to get to!

On the page, it says “You can hatch one Transport per year for free; others will require Fate.” So we get one freebie a year!

Good call, making more of the tier 3 companions for Agents purposes.

I wouldn’t spend too much energy on that for everyday Skeleton Recipes, they aren’t very attractive.

Only if you don’t think you will need the vial for something different. It’s one of those completionist items, that I doubt will gain a use without gaining another source first.

This is not actually profitable. If you have a use for the waves you’ll make, your mileage may vary, but I haven’t bothered with this the last years. I also didn’t find the storylets to be an outstanding read.

If you have it, it’s worth selling, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get more.

Other than that:

  • With the introduction of Agents it’s probably prudent to get a surplus of thrice augmented companions to keep your agents company on their assignments. Other than that, I doubt I will sink many actions into Whitsun related activities this year.
  • Offering a Fourtynine Voiced Warbler at de Gustibus is something everyone should experience. Just be aware that it hurts, is scary and will ruin your reputation. Society and Snakes will both not be amused.
  • If you have a certain sigil on your skin from touching hot coal in winter, make sure you stop by De Gustibus with that.

Farm Monstrous Orbs for negative EPA and no documented uses, of course!

Mantleplace decoration, surely that’s a documented use.

You can crack open eggs, untreated or partly enlightened/invigorated.

With Speculation About Whitsun reaching 10, you can publish a Whitsun edition of your newspaper at Doubt Street, gain some rewards and a quick boost to Making Waves.

Finally… Whitsun is the time to make (takes one full year) Hellworm Cheese from your Hellworm Milk, and it’s up to you if you wish to feed the cheese to De Gustibus.
