Weekly Questions, Beginning 31/07/2017

Here’s this week’s thread for quick questions!

What’s the best way to cash in Revolutionaries Connected that isn’t card based or otherwise random?

I’m already drawing cards in the Flit as much as possible but I don’t think I’ll be able to burn off all the excess CP above my target level before the conversion.

I’ve been trying to seek Eyeless Skulls.

Doesn’t seem to be working, mind.

why do the proscribed materials have such a scandalous buying/selling value ratio anyway?

The change coincided with the introduction of a certain SMEN option requiring a very specific number of them, so that’s a likely contributor to it.
why do the proscribed materials have such a scandalous buying/selling value ratio anyway?
Here’s my take on it.

Not all units of Proscribed Material are actually condemned by the Ministry; some of them are, some of them aren’t, but all of them are the sort of writings which could be. The rate at which Crawcase buys them accounts for the fact that many will need to be turned over to the Ministry, probably without compensation. The price at which Crawcase sells them includes the cost of making sure that the volumes offered for sale are all Ministry-approved. Those volumes are still Proscribed Material, though, because a random Ministry inspector might confiscate them to check whether they’re approved.

Another reason: they increased the price to make seeking even harder.

Possibly also to make sure you couldn’t just go to the Deep Archives and buy one at a time from the Bazaar until you hit the right number. Though that’s not actually possible these days.

When church switches over, does that mean wines converting is going to require favors? I fear that that would slow down grinding cellars of wine considerably.

Will I need any points in the &quotIntimate of Devils&quot quality in the Iron Republic? I’ve kinda gotten it reduced to zero…
It’s my first trip. I’m off to see the sights and cash in my 40 Renown + 7 Favours.

You’ll be fine - I don’t think the Iron Republic uses Intimate of Devils for anything, much less anything vital.

Unfortunately, almost certainly. I thought some upconversions required renown instead but I couldn’t find any and certainly all of the recently converted factions require favors.

Well, bugger. I guess I’ll have to stockpile a bunch of cellars in the next… what, few days?

They said near the beginning of August. Church will be the firs too (along with Bohemian). So I’d convert sooner rather than later.

Right, so it could happen any moment now. Waugh.

A quick question raised by a discussion on a different page, is Mr Eaten’s existence unique?

The whole line definetly started out with him being a one-ness, but now that the Fallen London universe has been put into context with the Judgments and the High Wilderness being full of things apparently, it seems hardly unlikely that other beings could have been unmade in a similar way.

Is the Neath particularly unique in that it allowed for the rending and the lacre-drowning and the god-eating, or are there several, ehr, Misters Eaten out there?

Sunless Skies is going to have wells.

I’m guessing other things have been Eaten as well.

He is unique, that we know of, in that he was Eaten. The way his presence hangs is…somewhat unique. It’s said Storm is a dead god, but we still experience it.

As well, as stated above in Skies we learn wells of a sort have been oft used to dispose of things…but they are presumably very different from Mr Eaten.

Need to rid 46k of Whispered Hints to finally advance an ambition. Wholesale the lot to the Bazaar or convert to Cryptic Clues and do A bag of low-quality diamonds instead? Thank you.

Definitely sell. The upconversion is bad.

So bad in fact, that the text grossly misleads you. Yes, you’ll get more Cryptic Clues per hint than from converting through the Bazaar, but the Bazaar costs no actions. You’ll have more money in the end by using the Bazaar and spending the actions you would have spent on the conversion on your standard grind instead.
