Weekly Questions, Beginning 19/12/2016

Ah, thank you. I clearly didn’t read the text properly, or make the correct deductions.

What is the best choice for Nodule of Pulsating Amber?Listen to it (the fate choice) or Train the Rubbery Racer? Thanks.

The fate choice just gives a favour. Train the rubbery racer removes all favours and gives renown.

From a comment on LDS’s wiki page one could understand that the option requiring The Gift offered a Longbox.
Hum, anyone else has any clue about what story Arandia might be talking about? If it’s to much, a PM would be nice!
Sorry, I totally forgot about this yesterday! I will check and update once I am home from work.

EDIT: Found it! Our Lady of Pyres. Let me know if you need a PM with further info.

Thanks, everyone. I’m still not sure about advanced professions - I feel really caught in between the two levels. I’m not seeing Faction cards, and I resigned from my training profession some time ago now. Confused!

As previously mentioned, most faction cards have an option that you unlock when you get 25 connections with the faction(or some favours for those that got switched to the favours and renown system), you just need to patiently wait and see which profession you would like to upgrade to when you get these cards(or you can just check the wiki if you want to). (But note that some cards have additional requirements, for example, for a job with the criminals, you must have sided with the Cheery man in his early game story).

Thanks. I think my issue is that having a profession is a pretty basic part of the game, but progressing from the training professions to the advanced ones involves some pretty arcane requirements which I wouldn’t be able to work out without reference to the wiki. I prefer not to look up loads of details external to the game itself, but if I stick to that I’m never going to manage this. It’s a bit disappointing.

@taimatsu I picked my profession as the options showed up and picked whichever one I fancied the most and it worked rather greatly. Also you can change your advanced profession.
Question of my own; is something wrong with patron protege system. it says I have no eligible contacts when I try to adopt a new protege. I am pretty sure I have at least a few they normally show when I did it before.

I think they need to be an acquaintance. Is it possible they and you haven’t exchanged calling cards yet?

The description for having the Mayor send a Christmas Card mentions a Mayoral Pardon, to clear Scandal and Suspicion. Is the Mayoral Pardon an actual item that can be used at will, or does the card just remove menaces on delivery?

It just removes the menaces.

Let’s hope they add this option for the interesting packages (FL/SS benefits) and leave KS only for very high tier rewards (name a region, add a character, etc). Until now we don’t have any information regarding this matter.

You need to be an acquaintance and, when sending lessons, they must have the modified stat under 100, an available Free Evening and no other lessons from other mentors.

Finished the story so no need for further information is required. If I knew before I would have picked that option as that ES seemed a bit dull, coincided with the US elections (hope it was a coincidence) and had connection problems so I missed some texts.

I know the prerequisites for adopting proteges. It is not first time I am doing this :) Notmally there will be some of my acquaintances on that list not only the person I am trying to adopt. But now, I have no one on that list. not the people showing there before and not the person I just exchanged calling card to adopt. They have managed to send me the request for patronage but I think something is glitching for the patrons to send requests.

There’s definitely a bug there (encountered by several players): You can’t send an invitation to a potential protege (even though they qualify), yet that same acquaintance has no problem sending you a request to be their patron.

A few questions I’ve had for a while:

 1. Is there any way to convert favors to renown without a connected item? The price for those at the Bazaar can be pretty steep for newer characters.
 2. Most of my stats are between 100-130, but I don’t have a patron. Is it worthwhile for me to still look for one? And how does having a patron work anyway?
 3. Good ways to grind for prisoner’s honey or souls/brilliant souls? I’m saving up for some new lodgings.
 4. I recently resumed playing FL after a year and a half break. Naturally, after such a break some of my contacts are going to be out of date. Is there a good way for me to find out which of my friends are still active?

Thank you! :)

@Greenstar54:

The answer to 1) and 2) is a clear, resounding No. Sorry. :(
edit: Patron works until you have 100 in a stat. If you can lower your stats with Rattus Faber, you can still find a Patron, but I don’t think it’s worth it…

For 3) try Unfinished Business in Veilgarden for Honey/Spite for Souls, and Thefts in the Flit for Brilliant Souls. You can also find Honey in the Court, if you have access.

About 4): You could have a look at their Profiles and see when they last echoed something.

Good day!
Anyone has the link to a Noman’s guide? Wish to gain Tattoo this year and wondering about best strategy.
Note: we should all be aware that mechanics and/or difficulty will probably change this year, as announced so last year.
Anyone has the link to a Noman’s guide?
NiteBrite’s guide on that is here.

Hello everyone

I would like to know if there is some permanent negative consequence for being exiled to the Tomb-Colonies.

With Suspicion reaching 8 we get a criminal record in addition to the prison sentence. I would like to know if there is something similar for when I get exiled, especially with regard to the Once-Dashing Smuggler.

Thank you
