Weekly Questions, Beginning 06/03/2017

You need more rare successes before you can proceed with the story.

ok thanks

Adrift on a Sea of Misery does it matter outside of lore if I increase it as soon a see the cards that increases the quality?

It’s just an RP quality as far as I know.

The futility of altruism!

If you’re doing Thieves cache expeditions and get Glim or if you use an Evening’s Zailling card often, the Widow card is good to convert that Glim to Stollen Kisses. Good for MW boost plus those SK can be converted for a greater boost.

It’s not that you’ll always need those, but it’s nice to have a stock of them in case you’ll ever need a quick MW boost for Notability. The celebrated artist (NPC spouse) has an incredible card which gives Extraordinary Implication which is best to be saved for the same reason.

Thanks.

 1. Does it matter your plant level in tournament of lilies? Like you are level 11 and the enemy plant is 12. Does it matter for chances of success in the contests for the tournament of lilies? Or it is all random?
 2. For Sartorial Squeamish you need to have them equipped both the rat and the Ratskin suit or only in your inventory? Are there any other hidden condition to have outside possessing the working rat and the ratskin suit?

Yes plant level matters, but it is still fairly random.

You only need them in your inventory.

So higher the differences between the plants in my favor better for my chances of success. Ok got it.

Expect to lose a lot in any case! :D
People who enjoy plant tournaments are usually very active and tend to have high level anyway. Even if you take part in battles with your plant at level 19, I don’t see any difference!

Best part is that the cards don’t consume resources after level 16, but give you some so that’s why it’s best to start battling around level 16-17. Have a level or two just in case you are very active and RNG makes fun of you.

Ok thanks.

So best way to get an alt and grow it at level 17 and do each other tournaments.
So best way to get an alt and grow it at level 17 and do each other tournaments.
That’s quite… inefficient actually. Because on each stage of the duel, the winner goes to the next round while the loser gets demoted to the previous one - and you can only duel opponents who are at the same stage you are at. Since it’s seven rounds, you’d actually need six alts to have one available as an opponent for each stage - provided you can get them to the corresponding stage first, of course. And since victory is never guaranteed, one good shot from the RNG will mess up that whole scheme, which will have you do so much shuffling in this logistical nightmare…

… I’m spending way too much words on this already, but thatr’s nothing compared to the effort you’d be spending on that racketeering scheme :) What a waste of perfectly good alts… er, time. Time.

Seriously, that scheme is totally not worth the effort. It’s pretty easy to just find your opponents the… traditional way, on top. Just don’t waste (your) (alts) time with that.

Hello,

I am trying to get further on the Ambition: Nemesis storyline but have no idea how to get to the Iron Republic or where to start finding the key / Numisatrix to get the safe conduct required.

I am still not a POSI (have to get Dangerous to 100 to get further on that story), am I able to progress without it?

Any help gratefully received.

Time, patience and a sheet to cover your battles so you can know which players are always available, timezone, speed of response. Not really needed to do all this because you’ll learn, but it’s a good way to have the active people on a list. If in doubt, just check their profile and see last echo even if it’s not that relevant all the time.

By patience I mean that RNG may screw you bad, people may reply hard! First time champion it took me 123 fights over the course of more than 4 months, second was 16 days and 38 fights. Working on my 3rd rosette, but after 25 fights I’m back to Cunning contest.

EDIT:

At your lodgings you’ll need to Chat with the Local Gossip and that’s where you find the Numismatrix. You’ll become closest to a faction which will determine how you can increase your Counting the Days; Great Game has options that don’t require a card. More can be read in this guide.

After that, you’ll need to become a PoSI and get yourself a ship to sail to the Iron Republic. You should take it slow on your Ambition as it can drain a lot of resources specially if you’re not yet a PoSI.

Thanks for the advice! I have met the Numismatrix before and have CtD 12 so I’ll have to work on that.

It’s taking an age to grind through the Black Ribbon challenges. If you die does it reset your running battle. Sometimes it feels the easiest way to get rid of wounds is through the Mirrors so I can grind for Approaching the Gates for my Dilmun access.

The new update what changed?

Just site maintenance, don’t think there’s anything new you’ll see.

Ok thanks.

Lore Question: Where exactly do Moon Pearls come from?

London seems to have quite a lot them. Ms Plenty is draped head to toe in the things, most clocks run on them, and they are practically used as a second currency. So whatever the source, it must be pretty vast.

I am dredging my brain trying to remember if there is any lore fluff that ever came up regarding their source. Are there huge zee oyster fields around low Barnet? Do the drownies bring them? Do they fall from the roof with glim?

I’ve raised Renown: Criminals to 42 (from 0! I didn’t understand how the Connections/Renown systems worked for the first 6 months or so I played…). I’m trying to cash in 7 Criminal Favors to raise it to 43, but I’ve hit a stat wall. I need Shadowy 250 to do the conversion, but with a maxed Shadowy at 200 and all my high-end shadowy gear equipped I can only manage to get it up to 243.

Is it time to use one of those mood cards I’ve been hoarding to get a boost to Shadowy?

I’ve read that if you didn’t get a faction’s Connected high enough before the Renown conversion that hitting the Renown: 50 mark is impossible. Is it? Should I let go of a pipe dream?
