It’s always Feast of the Exceptional Rose or Famine of the Exceptional Rose… but it is indeed the Feast, as well as all of Fallen London’s usual antics of interest, so here’s this week’s thread for quick questions!

Should the Christmas Card option REALLY still be available? I mean, it’s the next in-game season by now.

  1. Is it useful to grind for more than one copy of each poem and novel in the Shuttered Palace (Gothic Romance, Patriotic Adventure etc.)?

  2. Is there any good approach for getting a &quotBejewelled Lens&quot before POSI status? I am stuck at getting glass instruments for &quotHeart’s Desire&quot.

There is an option at Christmastime that consumes a Copy of your Patriotic Adventure. Were you to use this option, you would have to re-grind.

Although now that you can get yourself un-kicked from Court, you can re-grind lost books as needed. And there’s actually no in-game reason to have all of them in the first place. You just need one non-Futuristic book for God’s Editors, and the Futuristic book if you intend to zail in a Zub.

I have a question. What are the most reliable and repeatable methods of ‘grinding’ Masquing Gifts? Or at least ways of grinding materials needed for giving said gifts? I am asking from both a POSI’s perspective and a non-POSI’s perspective.

PS: For those wondering about my situation regarding my active, but non-responding friends, I have yet to receive a answer from them.

Not sure about the grindable items, but the best option on the Feast card is A lovers’ tryst (Airs 0-25) -> Arrange to meet by the silver fountain. If you have enough Persuasive for the check, it’s 2 Masquing and 5 echoes of items.

You can also give An Ode to the Elder Continent to the Tiger-Keeper.

Singed Playing Card, 1 Msq. (Prisoner’s Honey) - Unfinished Business, Veilgarden; Life of the Mind, Shuttered Palace
Buttered Chess-Piece, 2 Msq. (Inkl. of Identity) - Watch passers-by, Celebrate the Feast of the Exc. Rose!

If you are Committed to a spouse, it’s worth noting that dancing with them at the Masked Revel provides a potent Scandal and Nightmares cure. If you’ve a significant quantity of both menaces, it might outweigh the value of the lover’s tryst.

Hi everyone - there are options on the Brass Embassy lodging opportunity card to acquire the Green-Eyed Devil and Quiet Deviless as companions via fate. Do you lose your Infernally Diplomatic Privilege in either case?

Another question - is there any consistency to the % chance of seeing a rare success on any applicable challenge? Or do they vary depending on the challenge/storylet/etc?

For example, if a rare success exists on a particular challenge, is it always a 30% chance to see that rare success?

You won’t lose your Sanctum by getting those as companions.

Hi dov - thank you for your response. Just to clarify, retaining the sanctum also retains the Infernally Diplomatic Privilege? The reason I ask is because the latter is part of one of the options to qualify for London’s Blood, on the path toward a Paramount Presence.

The rare successes can have chances between 5 and 50 percent.

It may be worth noting that it’s perfectly fine to write the futuristic book after joining the editors, so you can have it on your shelves and still buy the zub.

Can you marry NPCs such as the Firebrand Reforged after the Feast, or do you have to make the decision during the season?

We’ll only find out after the Feast, but my guess is that they won’t pull the stories related to them after it’s over.

Thank you! What about divorce though? I admit I was planning on using an NPC spouse purely to help with the notability grind (hey, marriages of convenience are a very Victorian thing!)and then ultimately divorcing them. Is that possible?

I can’t find the second part of the Marriage of Fedducci, I also still have the sackmass card option available?
