You got questions? We got questions! Let’s all share our questions.
Why does the RNG hate me so, at least in relation to one particular card (“An unsigned message”) I’ve been waiting for for weeks now?
No, but seriously, my actual question-- is increase of Counting The Days only card-based? Related, is that the best (or, only) source for Mark of Credit pages?
In Ambition: The Martyr-King’s Cup from Sunless Skies, at one point while trying to steal the minute hand of Big Ben you accidentally unleash what appears to be a Curator, and possibly the Master the Chiropterous Hoarder/Mr. Apples/Mr. Hearts mentioned had been caught escaping the Neath and given a job by London. There is an option to blast it with your most powerful weapons, however using any weapon except for a Cotterell & Heathersage ‘Golgonooza’ (think basically a rapid-fire upscaled shotgun) literally only makes the thing blink a few times. Using the ‘Golgonooza’ tatters it’s wings, stuns it and finally drives it off. I should note even the Wrath of Heaven, the weapon that does the greatest raw damage in the game using Correspondence-etched boulders, can’t drive the thing off.
On the other hand, during Ambition: Bag a Legend you can defeat Curator Veils by…waiting for him to get fat and slow eating other Curators, and then gunning him down with a ratwork derringer.
My question is: What’s the deal with space bat hide that it can apparently tank star-screams but not well-made bullets?

Related, is that the best (or, only) source for Mark of Credit pages?
For the first problem, if you can reach Notability 8 with some ease there’s the option to insist on Favourable Circumstances under "Write A Letter" (under Social Engagements, now) which will allow you to forcibly draw the Unsigned Message Card.
For the second, it is the only source of Marks of Credit. It’s mostly card-based, although if you’re closest to the right factions you can nudge it up to 10 in the Forgotten Quarter and Wolfstack Docks. And apparently you can finish the loop without cards at the Palace and the University so long as you haven’t sold your soul, but have become a master thief.
Don’t they make small talk in star-scream? My impression has generally been that Correspondence isn’t a particularly big deal, it just happens that earthly mortals are so low on the Chain that it starts becoming dangerous. Something like a Master should be sufficiently high that it wouldn’t be adversely affected.
Please, use spoiler tags.
Brief hurried question:
What is the most efficient non-fate way to obtain a Direful Reflection?
Not sure about efficiency, but Dabble in the Great Game in Veilgarden is easy.
Brief hurried question:
What is the most efficient non-fate way to obtain a Direful Reflection?
As Nobody said, but here are some tips for quirks:
Magnanimous up to 10 from the Urchin and Laudanum card
5 if you tend to someone’s nightmares
Up to 10 if you associate with a different philosophy
Recruit and release SBL in the clay quarters (magnanimous or ruthless)
Lashing Waves: A Stowaway! 3CP magna/ruth to 10 (Zee)
Those engines don’t sound healthy 3/2cp magna/ruth to 10
Mutton Isl carousel 3CP magna/ruth to 10
Arson and avarice 3CP magna/ruth to 10
Capture a new exhibit ThiO 3CP ruth
Drown an informant 3CP ruth to 10
Poisoned dinner +3CP ruth
And this is how you get 100+ without Fate. :)

Thanks for all of the quick answers!Did it,worked!
Another one, if I may:
I find myself in a certain point of my ambition where I need Parabola-linen, a Diary of the Dead and Puzzling Maps.
Which, because FL is FL and I am me, I jus happened to sold them all.
Just yesterday.
While I kick myself in the head: what are the best-non fate ways to grind these things?
And, being a altmost-in-the-late-game-but-altogether-too-poor PoSI,
And having just unlocked my Base-Camp(that Unsigned Message took WEEKS) and my Laboratory,
Are there any other Such things I would need to grind?
I intend to rush my Ambition, but I Have been from roadblock to roadblock. Wich is fine, just want to be prepared for the next ones.
Parabola Linen is easy enough – an expedition to the Tomb of the Silken Thread. Puzzling maps can be had either by trading a Collection of Curiosities (acquired in the Bazaar Side Streets) to the tomb colonists, or by up-converting from 25 partial maps (and those from 50 zee stories) using a docks favour both times.
Oh, and they are part of the reward of various professions.

Would appreciate it if someone can PM how many actions and which storylet I should take in Flute Street to get the rubbery skull? I have access to it as an unlocked area/story.
Thanks in advance!

IIRC it’s part of the carousel that gives one rubbery skull as long as you don’t already have one, and it’s not one of the final rewards. If you just go through the cycle once you get the chance to try all of the options multiple times, except for the final one, so you’ll get it naturally that way.

You can obtain a Skull from the second part of the carousel, i.e. one of the actions that raises Time Passing… from 7 to 9. I don’t remember the name of the action, but it’s something that references the Rubbery Hound. Pretty sure it’s the top one on the list.
Obtaining just the Skull takes… 29? actions, including the 10 to enter Flute Street and 5 to leave. If you duck out at that point, you end up with literally nothing other than the Skull. Sticking it out to finish the carousel will actually net you items, probably worth your time since you’re down there anyways.
For my two cents on Hattington’s question
I think you are killing ideas of the Vake, ideas that don’t have the toughness of an actual Curator, or a Curator that Is. With Intriguer Veils, you can kill it by destroying it as an idea.
April herself says
They’re weak now. Kill them easily, one at a time.
So I traded with a relicker for a Veils-Velvet scrap and some kind of connectivity issue ate the echo - and unlike almost every other time when an action lags out and never registers, upon reload I had the velvet scrap in my inventory and was some 3200 scrap poorer. Would anyone happen to have the full echo for this action available to find somewhere in their journal?
