Here’s this week’s thread for quick questions and answers! Remember, for Election questions, refer to the Election sub-forum, and for bugs, send a report to the support email.
I have a question for Exceptional Friends. Awhile back in the Season of Adorations I was unable to get ‘The Pursuit of Moths’. Does anyone know when that story will be available to purchase for Fate (or how long before a story is purchasable from the time it is released)? Many thanks in advance.

Is there whole Fidgeting Writer “story” written somewhere? I have resources to gather it by myself, but that grind is too frustrating for me.
Why must the card for Slowcake be so rare for me and why must The Jovial Contrarians be so b___y common? :(

I imagine that the fate page won’t be updated until the redesign is re-launched and running in line with expectations. FB has commented that they’d get to reorganizing the fate page eventually as well.
Just a guess, but that’s what I’d anticipate.

I’ve gotten Slowcake’s card only twice! The others have been relatively frequent.

The reputation card went from rare to Exceptionally common, Contrarian card went from uncommon to b____y common, and Slowcake’s card went from uncommon to EXCEPTIONALLY rare. Clearly the systems rigged against poor Mr Slowcake.
Oh right, actual question. Is this difference intentional, by accident, or just poor luck?

I have misclicked and thrown in my lot with one whose gift is not to my liking. The storylet for the election specifies that if you have already received a free gift and shift allegiances, you will not receive a new one, but could I manage to get the gift I want if I just don’t take any on offer? (I really want Bees.)
If I understand correctly, yes.

I’ve gotten Slowcake three times today, Contrarian once, and no Princess. I do happen to be supporting Mr Slowcake, but I’ve no idea if that’s related.
Strictly, Election questions should go in the Election subforum… but I can tell you that all three candidates’ cards have the same Frequency value. It’s just poor luck.

Curse you Fallen London Probably Random Number Algorithm! Your yearly gifts save you this time!
When you do something that costs multiple actions (like most of the casing options) do you get comparable increases in CP? Like… if I do a 3 action shadowy do I get 3 times as much shadowy CP as if I do a single action shadowy of the same difficulty? I’m trying to figure out if there’s any reason not to just get my casings us through stealing paintings.
What’s the easiest way to get exactly 2CP of MW? I don’t wanna upconvert because I’m nearing the Absinthe barrier that I won’t have time to loop back around from before the end of the Election, so I’d like to avoid wasting even a single upconversion when I’m so close to the next level. Right now I’m flipping cards, but I was wondering if there’s an easier way - I don’t mind paying echoes, or doing social actions or something, I just need to spend as few actions as possible getting 2CP.
I’m fairly certain you don’t - though you can easily check yourself for 4 actions (one doing something shadowy to check your exact CP beforehand).

The Opportunity Card The Mayor of London (Feducci), Investigate the Mayor gives 2 CP to Making Waves and a Scrap of Incendiary Gossip.
I tend to go to Veilgarden and Supply wine in exchange for Prisoner’s Honey in the Honey Den which gives 1cp of Making Waves per action.

Plus the Life of the Mind in the Court.

Upconverting Romantic Notions. I believe one option gives 2-3 and one option gives 2-4. The Making Waves occurs even on a nominal failure. It’s less on average than side-conversion, but it has a higher floor which makes it nice when the RNG is in a cranky mood.
Cheers guys, up to 10 now.
Probably won’t make it to 15 unless I manage to get the Townhouse card like 10 times by end of week, damn accidental overcaps. But I’ll take what I can get.
What is the ‘Absinthe barrier’?
It varies from action to action. The only way to know is by looking it up on the wiki. For example, the casing options for planning a heist/robbery are either 2 casing per action, 3, or 4, depending. However, there’s plenty of stuff where there’s two available actions (such as this one card during flash lays) where the one that costs multiple actions is only as good as or maybe even inferior to the other.
