Can someone advise me on something?
I’m currently trying to do Making Waves grind for Hallowmas.
I have two options: Go to Zee, get a Plated Seal and some Cryptozoological Notes, and use them to create a Hound of Heaven and therefore a Bifurcated Owl. That’ll bump my BDR up from 16 to 18, but it’ll take a lot of actions. Or, I could go on side-converting my items.
Which would be better for the grind up to 8? (And is what I’m hearing in regards to going up to 9 instead true despite how slow I may be going?)
The Owl is definitely worth your while, I would say. Increasing it from 16 to 18 would save you 71 CP of MW each time you grind from N8 to N9, 63 from N7 to N8, and so on. You can grab up the Seal on your way out to Bullbone Island the first time, and it’ll probably take you two trips to the island to get 500 crypto notes, if you don’t have any yet (if you have extra collated research or other items to trade for notes, you could probably cut it down to one Bullbone trip). Overall, a big time saver in the long run, even when you add up 2-3 zee voyages and 1-2 Bullbone carousels (you don’t have to go through the breeding carousels in the Labyrinth when breeding the Owl).
That said, it’s going to take a while to reach N8/9 with 18 BDR. Just going from N8 to N9 at that level takes over 550 CP of MW. (The reason people are saying N9 instead of N8 is because you can’t force-draw the Amanuensis card without at least one point of Notability. So, if you spend all 8 points and go to zero, you have to wait to draw it again to reach level 1, and you’re wasting grinding time.)

One more note: If you’re only planning to grind for one additional confession (and therefore only grinding to N8), the Owl will still save you time. 18 BDR saves you 280 CP MW over 16 BDR, assuming you start at N1. So that’s somewhere between 100-200 actions faster than converting, depending on how fast you can get what you need at zee and get back.
Gotcha. I’ll be out to Zee tomorrow morning, then. And perhaps consider a Ratwork Velocipede.
Apparently, I have Courting The Artist’s Model 1, but I’ve never seen that card come up. I assume there are no conveniently grindable sources?

The card only comes up when you finish the Artist’s Model plot: if you have the "courting" quality, it means you aren’t finished with her yet. Follow her story to the end, and then the card in question will unlock.
You can also grind it fairly easily if you’ve gotten to the point in the game where you must capture beasts for Mr. Inch.

My view is to stop at N8 and wait for the card (assuming you have the time to draw cards frequently), using the extra actions to regroup. I typically use tier 3 conversions and need to get across the abyss from absinthe to visions of the surface. Or even the double jumps when you have stacks of 1000 or so.
I no longer find it particularly useful because it’s so hit and miss (understandably, considering it’s gambling). Nights on the town are expensive as it costs 22 (?) compromising documents to make. Also, the option can be very expensive as you can lose over 20 echoes and not gain much MW from it. I tend to use it as a backup option when I’m on the last push to the next level, and not regularly as part of the main MW grind.
Planning to sell the location of the Cave to the Great Game, as revolutionaries are a shady lot, and devils and urchins don’t pay enough. My question is should I sell the location of the prince? I know you need it to upgrade lodgings, but I’m planning to do that this christmas, and the money is awfully tempting.
The only other way to get a Location is by grinding up 3200 scraps, which takes a really long time since it’s entirely card-based. So the question is, would you rather have money now or have a rare item without needing to grind later?
If you’re not a collector I say sell it. If you collect useless junk like I do, keep it.

The Location is also necessary in a certain Ambition.
Yes, but that Ambition provides an easy and cheap way to obtain the Location right there (I think it costs, like, 100 echoes? Which is a 95% discount).
On the other hand, if you ever plan on Seeking but aren’t certain on going North, I think the Location is one of the items that must be given up? On the other hand, neither scraps nor the path to the Nadir need to be gotten rid of to Seek, so unless you’re either 100% certain you’ll never meddle with the Name or 100% certain you’ll go all the way, consider not cashing out.
Well, I’m not seeking the Name as I made an alt plus I’m not going to grind bundles of oddities for my soul back anyways, so I’m probably going to sell it. Thanks for your opinions everyone!
Anyone else’s Time the Healer been late this week? If so, by about how much?
It’s going on 6+ hours late for me, and I don’t want to lose any more making waves than I have to right now.

Yeah, I’ve had a similar problem. It’s definitely been about 12 hours for me. Thank goodness I’m not alone!
What’s the proper channel for reporting typos? Is it the support email? (I should know the answer to this, but I’ve also been up since 4 a.m. [quite unintentionally], so I’m not precisely at the top of my game.)
Edited to fix a typo in my own message. Oh, the irony!

Oh, Call in Favours in the Flit, where have you gone, my dear? Do you not love me any longer? It feels like weeks since we were last together. I need you! The Liberation of Night isn’t going to advance itself now, is it?
I wonder why that one is a card, when the other comparable ones are permanent residents of their respective areas. Anybody have an idea?
Probably because it’s very good.
Those were the first three factions that changed to favours and renown. If I remember correctly that is when it became a card as cashing in favours gave more than cashing in connection. I have no idea why it hasn’t been changed back to a storylet now that the other factions give similar values.
Indeed, it’s at support@failbettergames.com
