Thank you Skinnyman and Yehochanan. Unfortunately, as tempting as it is, I haven’t the time like before to grind for A Paramount Presence. The Court of the Wakeful Eye and Poet Laureate already snagged my attention. ;)
While I’m broaching the subject, are there any post game opportunities this old gal can pursue? I’ve done a few that I can’t recall off the top of my head; I’m open to any and all suggestions.

It’s not just you. I’m on a 115mb/sec fiberoptic line and I can frequently count to 8 before a page or tab loads after I click something. It’s made grinding souls in the Flit for echoes incredibly tedious.[/quote]
Indeed, the game is approaching the regions of unplayability for me at the moment. I’m counting to a lot higher than eight right now.

I actually have the current CSS saved (and there are a few snapshots on archive.is). Should the new design be really off-putting, I fully intend to do my best to recreate the classic look - provided they don’t make it too difficult (god forbid they implement some kind of bloated dynamic DOM building doohickey thingamajig like youtube recently did - even though for some incomprehensible reason that kind of thing is all the rage in modern web design…)
React/Angular/Vue and everything that comes with each (a lot!).
As much as I don’t understand how the drive for "responsiveness" leads people do find increasingly heavy and complex ways to do the same thing, I’m more referring to how youtube has a really weird way to create DOM nodes on-the-fly with autogenerated IDs, which makes it pretty hard to create userstyles/userscripts now. I don’t remember the details, but I read it on the YoutubePlus (now Particle) github, which seems to have been purged of the old discussions since it got deprecated (for the exact reason above - an entirely new userscript was required to reimplement the functionality with the wacky new layout).
I don’t think the usual frameworks are nearly as bad, though I don’t have any first-hard experience with them.

Interface and aesthetic preferences aside, the few times I had tried the site on my laptop in lieu of the mobile app, the site always felt molasses slow. Holden’s example pretty much sums it up.
Playing on the site now, it’s the same as my previous experiences.
I’m sure the new site will rectify much; it’s woefully outdated.

That’s a server issue, though, and nothing on the UI side can be fixed to make it better (unless their current design places undue load on the servers and they optimise that away). On lucky days where the servers themselves were snappy, playing was an absolutely pleasurable experience. The mobile app was snappier simply by virtue of being offline.
Given that they’re using "modern" web frameworks by the looks of things, I doubt the actual user interface will be any snappier. Personally, the best I’m hoping for is that it doesn’t become any slower, especially on older devices. In fact, on the offline mobile the actual UI was slow as molasses, at least on Android (~0.75-1 seconds of delay per action, without any network activity, and on a pretty modern phone) - though hopefully the web implementation will have little to do with the native code in the apps.
There are too many examples to count of sites running bandwidth-intensive content that are responsive. No reason the redesign can’t/shouldn’t be the same.
Assuming I don’t want to sell my soul (for RP reasons), what’s the best level of Intimate of Devils to get fewer of those damn devil cards? (I know that below 12 is better, bc 12 triggers both Abstraction cards.) Better yet, is there any other way–even a Fate-locked option–to eliminate them entirely? Siding with the good guys in “A Trade in Souls,” perhaps? Because at this point I’d do it just to stop the cards.
I believe keeping it at 0 is what results in the least card draws. At the very least, it’s only 1 card then, and you can hold it in your hand forever.
The only way to make them go away forever without selling your soul to them is to Seek What Ought Not Be Sought.
Or just toy with the Devils to get some favours and confident smiles and decline opera invitations to lower it back.
Do note that these interaction will yield some scandal as well.
I can confirm that being one of the “good guys” in the Soul Trade does not rid you of the devils. On the contrary, a certain level of that quality encourages a particular chap to send flowers. Persistently. I have never had Intimate of Devils at all, so can’t say about that. Soul Trade also throws up another card not mentioned on the wiki. I have a small amount of Renown devils for my profession, however.
I have my base Watchful to 215 but have a way to go to get London’s Nerves. Can I change my exceptional specialization now (all my unmodifieds are 200) and work towards another 215 before I get London’s Nerves?
Yes, just be careful not to lose any stats.
Thanks!
The lag has gotten so constant and so bad that I’m currently afraid to play any Exceptional Stories because the site’s so inclined to stall out loading results and I don’t want to miss part of a story that way. This is distressing.
Game is unplayable at present.
It’s been cripplingly slow for several days for me, making it no fun to play at all. But right now this minute, the game is not responding at all.
Ive had zero issues… weird
Some latency now but not too bad
