Here’s this week’s thread for any Fallen London questions you don’t want to start a whole thread for!
Parabolan Breadcrumb. Anyone have a sense of the odds? I’ve been doing “The Operation of the Ambrosia Club” for a while now and don’t have any.
I don’t think you can get Parabola Breadcrumbs from that plot. I believe you can find them only in plots that require a silvered agent.
I’ve tried some of those but also received none ![]()
It’s hard for any individual player to get a sense of it because you will only ever get 3, which just isn’t a big enough sample. But also, it’s the FLPRNG, one of the most cruel and whimsical end bosses of any video game.
I think the received wisdom is that managing the honey-den does not itself grant breadcrumbs, because it does not require an in-Concern agent. And my anecdotal vibes are that the plot that uses Preparations has chance proportional to the Preparations it uses, which makes it the most efficient. Stick the luckless captain in the honey-den and run the Briars of Dream plot as often as you can with the Proprieter.
My purely vibes-based guess would be 25%. It will take you a little while to get them, but it is not meant to be a grinding months-long ordeal like fishing for a Blemmigan Secretary.
You mean year-long…
Or years-long, even. I think I was 7 or 8 years in before I got mine. Granted, I was not purposely grinding surprise boxes, just opening them as they came in.
I had worse luck than getting one in four plots — I probably ran 25 silvered plots before I got mine (mostly cats campaigns).
But also of course as already noted, that is far too small of a sample size to make too much out of. It’s entirely possible for the odds ro indeed be 25% and have people occasionally have a long string of crumbless plots (or contrawise, get multiple in a row)
Yeah, seven or eight years and still not got one. Not seen a ferret yet, either.
Not to diss the cats and their boxes, but it makes the Matriarch
seem downright commonplace!
