Useless Advancements

It took a lot of careful planning and about ~26 tears of the bazaar and ~23 Unusual Pails of So-Called Snow (nearly an overgoat’s worth of supplies), but today I hit Noman’s Friend x666.

SnowBrite and the Seven Candles lives! :D

Once I reach the boundaries of content-land, I plan to grind Mr. Lamperouge’s Hedonist, Subtle, And Steadfast quirks up, and then nuking Heartless and Forceful.

I’m sure someone out there is working on getting 777 Blemmigan Secretaries…

You can’t have more than 1 Blemmigan Secretary. I discovered this back when the Bonfire of the Decencies card guaranteed a Blemmigan if you passed the luck check.

Wow. Now I wonder if anything will happen if you manage to keep the poor thing alive for a full year…

No matter what, Nite always manages to impress! :D

I just spent a ridiculous amount of time and money on attaining a Night Whisper. days in the Flit hoping the RNG would grant me the Urchins card. raising my connected: hell from 0 to 30 by conversions of souls to muscaria brandy. I think I spent near a thousand Echoes??? i did not even remotely keep track.

and then I did Expeditions to the Forgotten Quarter and got them that way, fml, it did NOT HAVE TO BE THAT HARD.

Did you try to trade favours with the urchins in the Flit to get enough Certifiable Scraps to get a Night-Whisper from the Shivering Relicker? And did you also spend Connected to: Hell when converting Muscaria Brandy to Brass Rings, to get a Night-Whisper through the rare success? I don’t see how either of those things involve spending Echoes, and certainly not a thousand of them. After all, you could just sell all those Brass Rings for Echoes, couldn’t you?

But you’re certainly correct in that expeditions to a Shrine of the Deep Blue Heaven is the easy way to get Night-Whispers. About one out of eight expeditions should give two of them.

I DID MANY THINGS AT ONCE.

i.e. I tried converting from Muscaria Brandy, which required a large amount of said brandy. The money from selling the Brass Rings was very nice, but didn’t cover the amount I’d invested in souls. or the actions to convert.

I also went looking for the card to trade favors in the Flit, but turns out I’m too low a level for that to apply to me, even with the stat-increasing clothes you can buy at the Bazaar with - you guessed it - Echoes. if you don’t have 150 Watchful, you can’t buy a Night Whisper there. although I do now have a ton of scraps that I can use for some later undefined purpose, so that’s a plus.

As part of my noman grind I needed a lot of night whispers for the purposes of purchasing unusual pails of so-called snow. If you have watchful 90 you can just do the fidgeting writer storyline from Tales of Terror item conversion and cash out at the Last Hope of the Fidgeting writer. Its honestly not that bad. Maybe one in five tales of terror converted up to the Last Hope and got me a night whisper. http://fallenlondon.wikia.com/wiki/Burn_his_works._Break_his_pen._Escort_him_to_the_Royal_Beth

As you said, it really didn’t need to be that hard :P
… but didn’t cover the amount I’d invested in souls.
Ohh, you purchased the souls from the Bazaar? Yeah, that’ll cost a pretty penny.

Regarding the fidgeting writer, I haven’t been so lucky. Hundreds of Actions and hundreds of Echoes’ worth of resources have yielded 11 x Last Hope of the Fidgeting Writer, which would give ~60 ppa for all those Actions if I’d choose to cash in at that point. Expeditions would take twice the time, but also give me twice the rewards per Action, which seems like a better option in the long run.

Well yeah, if you are after epa and don’t care about specifically getting night whispers as fast as possible expeditions are the way to go in that expeditions at least guarantee a good consistent value. Even then though, fidgeting writer has the potential to be way better (see my previous run of 200 where I made 2.85 echos per action over several hundred actions on fidgeting writer even after discounting item and action costs).

Here’s the break though, night whispers aren’t for sale for echos so better epa doesn’t yield better night whispers per action. If I need 25 night whispers in 3-4 weeks (a month), it’s fidgeting writer hands down. Expeditions just don’t have the high level of rewards selectivity needed for that kind of speed. And from the conversation above it sounded like Marianne only needed one night whisper. With fidgeting writer it is possible to get a night whisper in as few as 6 actions with a bit of luck. My personal rate was 1 in 5 so roughly every 30 actions (less actually since many of the failed tales conversions failed early on). Still not bad if you need mass quantities of specifically night whispers.

Goal I am debating about pursuing: Getting every last one of the Labyrinth beasts…at the same time.

A worthy challenge. But be prepared for a crowded opportunity deck if you succeed!

My own menagerie has undergone some trimming in recent weeks. The noise and smell were ungodly, let me tell you. Frankly, I am surprised the Manager of the Royal Bethlehem (where I currently reside in a Suite) was prepared to let me house them all in the first place, but then he didn’t bat an eyelid when I moved cartfuls and cartfuls of dark basalt up to the top floor to build my own Gymnasium, so perhaps I shouldn’t be.

I would have every animal, but I find some of them just aren’t that useful after a point and thus serve as an annoyance rather than an asset. I will never begrudge the final pet though.

I. May have done the unthinkable, the unspeakable, those who pass me in the street scurry to the other side like rats. Everyone knows, and no one says a thing.

With 77 of the gorgeous beasts in tow, the Starveling Catfé is now open for business…

I wondered if maybe Impossible Theorems worked like the Overgoat, so now I have three.

Then I tried to get my Notability to 20 to increase my Watchful to 220 to give me an effective 300, but it looks like it caps at 15. (I wanted Watchful 300 to get my Scholar of the Correspondence to 21: does anyone have a tip for that?)

200 + 4 (adv. inv.) + 15 (n) + 5 (destiny) + 12 (ink) + 10 (pockets) + 8 (glove) + 3 (stockings) + 30 (Übergoat) + 30 (mood) makes 317.

What does &quot30 mood&quot mean?
