The Dangers of Curiosity

If you dip a soul in a pail of lacre …

The soul fizzes like sodium! There is a flash, a bang and the snow sublimes instantly to vapour. Your eyebrows are gone, but your store of knowledge has grown a little.

What would happens if, into the lacre reservoir below Penstock’s, someone where to chuck, say, 2495 Souls, 12 Brilliant Souls, 2 Queer Souls, 3 Silent Souls, and 1 Coruscating Soul?

Mentos and coke springs to mind.

…do Masters have souls?

“If he had a soul (you might conjecture; you do not conjecture) it would have skipped and sizzled like rich blood on a griddle.”

If you angled it correctly, the spewing geyser would launch London back into its original place on the surface.

If the rumors you can dig up regarding what happens at the end of a city are true, if your character hangs around London for long enough they’ll get to see a whole lot more souls than that all go into the lacre at once.

You just get explosive sadness.

UPDATE: Wait a minute… Now that I think of it some more, would that be how the Bazaar lifts itself off the planet? It gets sad, nostalgic or depressed in some way and it shoots off into space?
