+5 Watchful boots.
Let alone Watchful boots at all.
Plus. Five. Boots.
+5 Watchful boots.
Let alone Watchful boots at all.
Plus. Five. Boots.
The Shadowy and Dangerous +8 hats are also very nice.
I’m a Glassman, so Dangerous and Persuasive hats are kinda redundant for me. And yet I chose the candidate with a Persuasive hat. Oh well. Such is the price of voting for your conscience.
I’m pretty sure (I don’t feel like checking) that one can acquire a +10 item for every stat in every clothing slot except Watchful boots. The best you can originally get was +2 from a benefactor or +3 from some holiday event.

I believe you’re correct, but I by no means have an exhaustive knowledge of FL items. All I know is I have a huge collection and still used the Benefactor shoes for my Morning outfit until I got the Wax-Hardened Boots last year.
My favourite thing so far has been raising a mob to throw eggs and rotten fruit at the candidate that I’m actually working for.

I think you’re not talking about the singular Clothing slot, and just equippable clothes in general.
In terms of that, the best Shadowy hat outside the election is +7, +5 if you can’t get a partner to give you FotER gifts.
The best Dangerous hat fares even worse, with only +5, the election hat becomes a 3-point jump.
If you need high stats, you’re going to be using a mood, which takes up the hat slot anyway. I chose the shadowy hat due to the Robbing a Rat storylet, which gives you higher rewards with more shadowy, but isn’t worth using a mood on. Also my dangerous is pretty high already, having a Waxwail Knife.
People who like using fate on the game should certainly get both since they won’t be available after this year. And maybe the persuasive one too if they’re collectors or just like that hat for some reason.
My favourite thing so far has been raising a mob to throw eggs and rotten fruit at the candidate that I’m actually working for.
is it feduci? I’ve seen a random persons note of them attacking fedduci and in typical fedduci fashion has a wonderful time firing fruit out of the air with his revolver.

Unless you’re a Glassman.
I sure do love my spectacles.

Having a few more points in a stat is nice for scaling rewards like the rat or difficult challenges like the Overgoat card that come up too often for a mood to be relevant.
Indeed. And he enjoyed it no end. I believe it was an option on his own card to ‘make trouble’ for him. I hadn’t seen that one so couldn’t resist. I didn’t think he’d mind being attacked by his own supporters. Seems I judged him correctly.
Jebus freaking Chrust, I posted this as a joke and there’s already 10+ replies.
Jebus freaking Chrust, I posted this as a joke and there’s already 10+ replies.
at least you didn’t get involved in a multi post derailing discussion out of sheer paranoi.
also I had no idea you were joking.

Wasn’t so much a joke as I didn’t think people would really go so in-depth into my statement.
… Wow, my previous sentence was… eh, I’ll think of a punchline later.
The boots are more than +5 Watchful. They’re +5 Watchful, +1 Respectable! It’s thanks to them that I’m now at Notability 5, and waiting for An Unsigned Message to advance my profession.

Also the second-cheapest way to gain Public Attention, after the Docks favor. It felt right in line with Fallen London’s more humorous moments, and it’s the only time I’ve interacted with Feducci in a way that made him seem like a three-dimensional character. In the fighting rings and the Black Ribbon he wasn’t much more than a cardboard cutout with bandages and a sword.
I could definitely live with this immortal ex-spy and his penchant for cheery and organized violent competition. Although my character will continue supporting the Campaigner, I think Feducci would be just as good from a meta-story perspective. The DTC would be an interesting continuation of Jenny’s mayorship with her noble goals but shady connections, while the 'dooch would be an interesting divergence from the same. It’d be weird if his presence in Making Your Name weren’t slightly reduced - perhaps Father Norton could take over running the fighting-rings, with Feducci balancing mayoring with organizing the Black Ribbon - but with the proper adjustments Feducci would fit nicely as Mayor.

Also nice for being able to push an extra point of Renown without waiting on Moods.

Yeah I got my boots last year. And there are no dangerous challenges where non-mood stats really matter, afaik, except maybe renown as mentioned.

FYI, for next year, you can select a different candidate to get the free gift you want, then immediately switch to your preferred candidate. If you do it before leveling up your election qualities there won’t be any penalties.
Oh, I know. The other items really weren’t particularly important because I didn’t need a Watchful hat, either, due to having plenty of Watchful +8 headslot items.
