SuperRewards is closing; Braintree unaffected

One of the systems we use to take payments for Fallen London is shutting down on Sunday. SuperRewards is mostly used by players who need to pay in less common currencies. 97% of you use our other payment system, Braintree, which will be unaffected. Also, it’s worth mentioning this won’t affect subscriptions at all.

Sorry we couldn’t provide more notice: we were only informed a couple of days ago. Given the short notice, we can’t say yet when and if we’ll add support for another payment provider or other payment methods: we expect to investigate in the next few weeks. If there were any payment methods that were particularly useful to you, though, please let us know here so we have a clearer sense of which ones it would be most helpful for us to support.

If you need to make any purchases via SuperRewards, please do so by 2100 GMT this Thursday.

I’d really prefer Apple Pay. Note that there is a new W3C payment API that I believe you could use to implement it (and Google Pay, and normal credit cards, and pretty much every payment method going), if you don’t want to use its specific API.

I prefer not to have my card numbers on file with too many places, and Apple Pay (as well as the in-app subscription option back when there was an official app) is an excellent way to do it.

Also, I have an Exceptional Friend subscription, but for a few hours I’ve not been an Exceptional Friend. Is that related?

RE your exceptional friendship: that doesn’t sound connected, you might want to email support@failbettergames.com if you haven’t already fixed/figured it!

That happened to me once. Turns out the card on file had expired. There are bank APIs that handle that, and many of my other bills updated themselves, but not the important ones. What good is being able to turn on my lightbulbs if light itself doesn’t work anymore?

Cancelling the subscription I allegedly had and restarting it fixed the issue. This sort of illustrates why I’d like the W3C Payment Request API to be adopted.

I’ll give my vote to Google Pay. I was never able to use Braintree in the first place due to lack of credit card (and paypal by extension), and SuperRewards was too finicky to use - it wouldn’t even load 90% of the times (I don’t know if the problem was just on my end, but it certainly didn’t endear me to it). If there’s anything that I miss from the mobile app, it’s the ability to buy Fate and subscription through Google Play Store painlessly.

Yes and no.
