So how do we steal one of these boxes?
She is indeed an instantly-recognisable character, if you’ve played (and remembered) the relevant storyline. If you haven’t, then look forward to it! It’s a properly creepy one.
I’d be very surprised if this is the last step in it, or even particularly significant; certainly it didn’t change any of my relevant stats. Doing something with the box might be a step on the road, of course, but nothing’s happened yet. I think it’s more likely that it was just an aside for colour.
I’m pretty sure I’ve played through that part (as I’ve reached the limit of the current content), but there have been so many storylines and my memory is so bad, that I have no idea who this might me. Would it be alright with you to send me a PM with an explanation?
Someone else has said it further up the thread, so there’s no point in being coy any more… she’s the Watchmaker’s Daughter, surely? Those words are enough to find the storyline in a wiki, if you so choose :-)
Cheers
Richard
I don’t think there’s a way to do so currently but there’s been news about Knife and Candle being restarted and there’s a good chance it has something to do with that.

Thanks, I appreciate it! :-)
I look forward to watching everyone dogpile Alexis for his box, knives at the ready.
Speaking of which, kudos to whoever proposed the idea that the only way to get a Mirrorcatch Box was stealing it off Alexis’ mantlepiece. I think that was my favourite theory.
What clues from the Bazaar’s twitter was actually true?
- “Beneath the Stolen River, hats lie forgotten. Only their eyes betray them.”[/li][li]“In this matter as so many others, one must seek outside the box.”[/li][li]“One who possesses the river may find the key more readily, but the key is not in the river.”[/li][li]“Catching sunlight is not a matter of luck, nor of chance. It is as simple and as startling as a sentence’s end.”[/li][li]“Sometimes, one must think not only outside the box, but beneath it.”

Just wondering, does the red herrings hint to future updates?
I know at least one of them does.
Which one?
“Beneath the Stolen River, hats lie forgotten. Only their eyes betray them.”
I feel a little foolish, but this clue still doesn’t make sense to me in context. It’s definitely my favorite though x)

I believe it’s “Mr. Irons growls in his sleep! What dreams have come to him?”
I’d echo that. I play almost 100% on iPhone so the URL and mechanism is effectively hidden through UI/ screen size. That said I think the puzzle was fair but ultimately disappointing compared to some of the ideas postulated which made for an interesting read. I had some interesting ideas myself that didn’t get mentioned that included non action based interactions with the site =:-{)>
I’m still slightly baffled every time I log in now and don’t have to search for clues! That was a frustrating but jolly fun event, capped nicely by Alexis’ wrap-up post. I am glad the solution didn’t involve something like bringing a Starveling Cat to the Mirror-Marches… (god, if regular cats become tigers and leopards… that doesn’t bear thinking about!)
You now have x1 Ragnarok Panther! You must feed it on a diet of imported sunlight and Coruscating Souls. And everything else, really.

This frustrated me too, but Alexis was nice enough to explain it to me (after I’d found the box, of course).
>> The River in a Box had a “sigil of the masters” on its underside… in other words, the sigil was “beneath the Stolen River” in the box. What I hadn’t realised, but has been pointed out several times in this thread now, is that the hat-with-eyes thing that appears all over the place is the sigil of the Masters. <<
As befits the first day’s clue, it was seriously obscure. I am picturing Alexis cackling with glee when we all decided he was just being silly.
I’ve certainly got egg on my face! Also I’m faintly embarrassed, but mostly I’m concerned about the egg.
No worries, it’s highly unlikely that it’s a phoenix egg. Your face should be fine.
