Kickstarter will apparently take Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards. I don’t know how to haphazardly jam anything else into the system, if it’s at all possible. Maybe i’ll just put the money in a letter and send it to Kickstarter HQ, to be ignored at their convenience.
Quoth their “Start” page: “Please note that anyone, anywhere (with a major credit or debit card) can pledge to Kickstarter projects.” Also, I’ve backed prior projects with debit cards, so, yeah, they definitely work.
Thanks I missed that somehow, still have too think about how much I can realistically afford.
The Kickstarters in US$ can also be paid with an Amazon.com account, which is rather handy. Shame they don’t support it in GBP.
Have any of you fine folks played any of the Escape Velocity games? They were my favorite games back in the day, and might still be today. They had simple and fun gameplay with lots of exploration, a huge amount of prose, and meaningful narrative choices. It’s been a long time since I’ve found a game with that sort of combination, and I’m really hoping that Sunless Sea will be the next one. Now I just need to decide how much I want to pledge…
The recommended pledge amount is "every penny you call your own, and some you don’t" If you’re short on pennies, may i suggest:
- Selling a limb[/li][li]Selling an organ[/li][li]Selling two limbs[/li][li]Selling all your limbs[/li][li]Selling your soul[/li][li]Selling your computer[/li][li]Selling all your organs[/li][li]All of the above.
Disclaimer: I am not an official Failbetter marketing official. But I think it’s close enough to what they’d ask, and also fairly reasonable at that.

I’m looking forward to my Failbetter tattoo. I’m assuming Paul will be designing it.
Seventeen years ago, a ferret showed up on my doorstep. Literally. She walked in like she had lived with me since forever… I fell in love on the spot… on mornings such as this, I occasionally consider eating their little brains with an egg spoon.
I am:
[ol][li]Envious;[/li][li]Saddened that, if a hedgehog somehow made it to my door, despite the many intemperate drivers and subtle urban foxes, to keep it would would contravene my country’s laws;[/li][li]Puzzled by the many forms of love. Is it with such cerebral passion that zombies yearn?

Alexis, if you ever want to spread your wings, you have a fine career ahead of you as a TV voice-over artist.
Can I eat my crew yet? Can I?
Kickstarter seems to take issue with Maestro debit cards. Even though it has no issue with Mastercard. Even though they’re issued by the same company
kickstarter why
Payment providers.
As a website, you don’t want to interface directly with Mastercard as a company, you want a middleman. It may seem counter-intuitive, but it scales brtter and allows you to spend your resources doing what you want to be doing, instead of ensuring you’re up to date with x.y.z+/-2 version of Mastercard’s API, and also Visa’s, and Paypal’s, and Worldpay’s.
So you contract with a Payment Provider, build one payment provider framework (or integrate theirs, depending on your requirements) and let them handle the day-to-day minutiae and problem management that would normally require a staff of 3 full timers to do.
Due to that other stuff, contracts are specific for payment type and locale, which may make Mastercard payment type viable, but not Maestro in your locale.
That was an explanation roughly six million times more educational than I was expecting. Thanks!
Still though now I need to try and find some other way to make kickstarter give Failbetter my money. Might have to buy a prepaid Visa card or something.
It’s absolutely depressing right now to still depend on your father’s -or in my case mother’s- goodwill to be able to help fund this, and I can’t. So I’ll do my best by spreading word about it.
I got a question, if you get the stretch goal of having zubmarines, zeppelins, or both, will having one exclude you from the other? For example, let’s say I have a zubmarine, does this stops me from getting a zeppelin or a regular boat?
Also, do zubmarines have to go all the while underwater?
You better sell at least one or more of your vital organs to help push the kickstarter to 50% funded before the end of the day so we can all get free rats!!! it’s vitally important that you do this thing
thank you and congratulations to anyone who is missing a kidney

… QUICK GET YOUR PARENTS ADDICTED TO FALLEN LONDON.
idea feed them some addictive substance as you force them to play. They’ll associate the two, and swiftly become hooked. Oh wait. You’ll have to sell an organ to fund the drugs.
I’ll rethink this, and have a solution soon.
Hooray! Over £ 50,000 , and still 18 more days to go! I don’t even dream of riding diregible… I just hope that this get past at least £95,000 so we can command Zubmarine. Zubmarine![li]
O glorious! Only… £0 left! It is done. It is done. All shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.
PS: Sadly, seeing the speed of progress implies that we won’t be able to command Zubmarine. And that’s terrible. [Gendertile]-ly tears will be shed. My (Fictional) investment on brass and glass market now lies in tatters.
