Season of Wrecks: Item Trade-In

There’s more than one result for the widow option? That makes my final decision even tougher then because

While I really want to let the widow know about her husband, what I want most of all is to do what’s best for the poor man. And if I let her see him, I lose that option. And the only result of the reuniting the two of them that I’ve seen so far ends with you never finding out what she did with him and I’m not sure I’m willing to take the chance. If there’s another ending to that situation that might help, although it would depend on what it is and if I’m able to get it instead of the ambiguous one.

Does anyone have the echo / item for the Rubbery option? I don’t think any of my characters would feasibly choose it so I can’t investigate it myself.

Also did anyone choose to break the needle?

I have the Rubbery option echoed on my alt (link below), and breaking the needle does nothing mechanically but lock you out of the sending to zee and Widow endings, because you don’t have the knowledge of his identity.

Hm, the storylet isn’t appearing for me. What are the three items we’re supposed to have?

Oh, the Soft Hearted Widow is the Emissary’s widow?! That makes her character so much sadder. I’ll always give her a generous donation when her card pops up.

I ended up choosing the Rubbery option and the text was kind of heart-breaking. I’m happy with that choice, though it was so difficult to decide. The reward was both nice and appropriate.

This season has been a fascinating one with a really interesting arc. I didn’t love the installment with the Iconoclast, but I did like how she tied into the larger picture. Thanks for the great season, FB!

There aren’t three items, its a quality. “Settling the bluejacket’s affairs” or something.

If it is possible i would also love a PM about the materialistic results of the choices?

I am having trouble, too. An urchin redirected me to the Breakwater house, but there were no choices there. A couple of people to chat to morning the Bluejacket’s pending departure, and then an option that would end the storyline. After I picked that, I lost all of the associated items and qualities but didn’t get any reward

Did I fall into a bug?

Nevermind, missed that the continuation is in Veilgarden.

[li]I would really like to finish this story but I think I subscribed after the season had started as I remember the Pyres being my first exceptional story. Is there gonna be an optio to buy the first story for Fate or something so that I can finish the season to?

In a month or two.

I choose the return to zee option, got an Elemental Secret, and I’ve echo’d the final text

I refused to stab myself with the needle, that’s just unsanitary. Of course, that again leaves my character ignorant of who or what the Emissary is.

I echoed the Rubbery option. And received a lovely Nodule of Fecund Amber

I chose
to let the Soft-Hearted Widow decide what to do with her shapeling’d husband. It’s echoed in my journal, and I got a Dreadful Surmise.

I think it’s nice that she’s a named character now, and we finally know why she’s a widow.
That was a really interesting ending to the season, one I had not expected. I loved how it tied back to the background-mystery of 'Where ‘You and I must Go’.

Plus I find the flukes one of Fallen London’s and Sunless Sea’s most fascinating mysteries, so this was very welcome.

With the slight exception of Lady Pyres I quite enjoyed the season of Wrecks, very entertaining and deliciously interesting. Now I am even more hungry for more great story content in the Hallowmas story and the next ES of the Skies season :D

All the reward info in one place, if I have everything right:[li]

[ul][li]Bullet: Dreadful Surmise[/li][li]Rubbery: Fecund Amber[/li][li]Zee: Elemental Secret[/li][li]Widow: Dreadful Surmise[/li][/ul]

Also, there were a few differences depending on choices in stories. If the Bluejacket knows where to find RFH, you may speak to him; otherwise you may speak to the wife. (I’m not sure what happens if the Bluejacket only knows he lives.) If the Iconoclast is in London, you may speak to her; otherwise you may speak to the Butler. If the Bluejacket believes the first mate is dead, you may speak to him and he’ll mention it. Unlike the other options, there’s no second option visible but locked. If you spared the first mate and said so, did you have an option to speak to the Bluejacket?

The final option in Breakwater House seems to vary by how well you fulfilled the Bluejacket’s wishes. Each story gave 5 or 10 of Settling the Bluejacket’s Affairs, with 10 indicating you tried to fulfill his request as well as possible. My final option was unlocked with Settling 25+ and he mentioned going to the Tomb-Colonies. What happened with lower values of Settling?[/li]

Lower values resulted in him setting off for the Gant Pole:

I went with my initial, gut reaction–but only after a day of deliberating and weighing the options in my all-too-rational mind.

I have echoed the option, which makes use of a most interestingly-named projectile.

Don’t put it in your pocket. It’s your lucky bullet.

Where do you want me to put it?

Anywhere not in your pocket. Or it’ll get mixed in with the others and become just a bullet. Which it is.

I absolutely loved this Season, particularly Where You and I Must Go and this final story. I always tried to do what I thought best, an especially difficult task for Our Lady of Pyres and The Final Curtain, and I am happy to see it play out as it did.
I decided to reveal the survival of Harris, sabotage both the dangerous New Sequencers and self-destructive animists (or whatever they called themselves) in order to bring the Brazen Iconoclast back to London, spare the first mate (thereby consigning him to a half-life of unthinking terror), and use the Heart-Catcher’s own power to return it to Parabola. Finally since the Last Emissary already sacrificed himself willingly in order to open relations with the Flukes, and bringing the Soft-Hearted Widow into it would only throw salt (no pun intended) on the wound after all this time, I decided to honor the Emissary’s decision and release him to fulfill his duty.

Some people care about the material rewards from Exceptional Stories, but to be honest I could hardly care less (though I do like unique gear). For those interested due to the inherent stories such results can tell, my final choice granted an Elemental Secret.
I feel it is a bit bizarre to call this an “Item Trade-In” rather than a “Conclusion”. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m here for the story.
