Having zailed further across the Unterzee than any other*, only one worthy voyage was left to me: The River.
Not as exciting as the last mission: I just found an uncapped Wounds source in a place you can’t die and clicked the same button many times. And it looks like Failbetter patched this, since today I was sent to the boatman long before reaching my goal of 77.
Continuing the worst tradition of all time, I missed the October Exceptional Story unlock to do this stupid failed stunt.
(The mantelpiece item is the ghost of a long-dead bug, just seemed appropriate to include at this moment when I am perhaps the weirdest profile in all fallen London.)

Yeah, I think I saw you in the Achievements thread when I was deciding whether to do this mad thing. I’m pretty upset about getting kicked out before even getting a record, let alone the nice Eaten number of 77, but hey, zombie high five.
EDIT: @Anna, yeah, nothing so far. I haven’t started the long climb back to the living yet, but as you can see I’m not the first to do something like this. edited by TheThirdPolice on 11/3/2017
I used the “examine the machine” option in the Trial and Error exceptional story.
Failbetter explains why I died: “The storylet you were playing wasn’t Must urgency, just a normal storylet which happened to link back on itself. As such, doing basically anything other than playing a branch would cause you to fall out of the storylet and run into the Wounds Must autofire; I can’t tell exactly how it happened, but using an item or hitting Perhaps Not are fairly likely causes.”
I think someone invited me to a wedding and I poked around my inventory looking for a nonexistent invitation item.
But now that I sent them an email about it, the Wounds quality for that storylet has been capped.
I know falling on the sword of my own stupidity is kind of the point of these stunts to begin with, but the @$#@ ES unlock system makes it so much worse.
