I regret to add that the river-in-a-box is equally inanimate in the Iron Republic as far as I can make out. Not that I really expected it would be, but oh well.
I’ve been looking for new options on all the Luminosity, Academic and Rag Trade items - haven’t seen anything. I even had a Bejewelled Lens ground, just in case - nothing there. Has anyone seen anything on a Heist or Promenade? Or in the new Criminals cards?
The Cheery Man’s comments about smuggling sunlight appear after you choose to chat with him about “the Docks”. I’m going to have my Cheery Man-aligned alt camp at Wolfstack Docks, draw the “A drink with the Cheery Man” card, and choose the Docks option to see what happens. That seems too simple, though. Maybe an option unlocks on the “A drink with the Cheery Man” card to craft a Mirrorcatch Box once you have the right Luminosity items (something like 10 Patent Scrutinizers or, worse, 50 Patent Scrutinizers Deluxe). I don’t have enough assets to purchase too many Patent Scrutinizers, Deluxe or otherwise! :( One might need a high Criminals connection, too. Darnit, I already spent most of my Criminal points to gain Magnificent Diamonds.
Besides the Cheery Man, there’s probably a Revolutionaries option. There are so many storylets, storylines and opportunity cards related to the Revolutionaries; it’d be hard to pin down. The Cheery Man mentions December from the Calendar Council as either a partner, rival or both. If it’s December who’s handling the sunlight smuggling, then the Affluent Photographer might have nothing to do with him since she’s with March, though having the Anarchist’s Sable might help. Maybe I’ll loiter around the University with my other other Cheery Man-aligned alt to see what the Benthic faction has to say. There’s a lot of Revolutionaries housed at Benthic.
If anyone needs to pursue the Affluent Photographer in their search for the meaning of their box, I have a card waiting to use; drop me a PM with your StoryNexus name, and I’ll be happy to aid your search. I didn’t recieve a box during the Feast, so I have to solve this mystery through the rest of you good fellows. ;-)
Incidentally, there isn’t anything new to do with the black mirror of the Fidgeting Writer, is there?
Black mirror doesn’t seem to have changed.
I haven’t tried it yet but options and their descriptions are still same.

I’ll stay tuned.
(Also: the feeling of having lost a chance to delve deeper into the mystery burns again T.T)

Well. I am also quite intrigued by this. Oh, i am one of this few, who got a river in a box. And also, why river? It has many other things other then river… I don’t think that it is connected to really advanced stuff. My character, for example, isn’t even a person of some importance.

Question: Does it require being affiliated with the Cheery Man? Because as far as I know, I can’t change my alliance with the Last Constable at the time, so I wouldn’t want to spend time looking for an item I cannot get.
Alexis, you’ve given a mouse a cookie.
I wouldn’t expect that tomorrow is too long to wait for the milk.
What happens if the account tweets a whole bunch of things, only one of which is relevant? all of the rest appear to be related to the mirrorcatch box but are red herrings
the answer is great sadness and woe, and alexis cackles atop his Discount Novelty Plastic Skull Throne (for ages 3 and up)

I would love it if the message was a word search where the letters that are left uncircled spell out “oh my, what lovely boots” which purportedly nods towards the item upgrades but is actually a direct quote from e.g. The History of Samuel Titmarsh by W. M. Thackeray, who also has a quote from Vanity Fair, which with some letters removed is quoted by a rubbery man. The rubbery card after that rubbery man will have a long series of gurgles that are all English words missing one letter, and the missing letters spell out “When Iron meets Candle” and we all storm the Docks as a large group of Name Seekers to sacrifice Mr Iron upon a funeral pyre to be gifted mirrored boxes by the Calendar Council simultaneously sparking off a revolutionary war.
and then, of course, the mirrorcatch box is used for nothing ever and possessing one causes the game to end abruptly as the bazaar flies off into space because all the Masters got killed
I have a suspicion, but it depends on whether it’s something that anyone, even a new character, ‘could’ do, or whether it requires you to make story (or inventory) choices. Unfortunately, I can’t prove it.
I await the clue with great interest.
Well, if only fourteen people have found it so far, the conclusion I draw is that it certainly ain’t obvious! Looking forward to the clue - it’s like a treasure hunt!
I have a theory, more in terms of where something secret would be hidden rather than anything to do with the lore. But I don’t know if it was possible to get before the Sunrise.
…It’s kind of sad that it took me a while to figure out the spammer wasn’t just an unusually strange theory.
