Revolutionary connection echo grind?

Hello all. I was just thinking, there is an opportunity card in the flit that lets you trade 120 cp of connection with the revolutionaries to gain 720 proscribed material. You can grind revolutionary connections in the forgotten quarter for 15 cp an action. After 8 actions gaining connections and one action using the opp card in the flit, you gain .04 x 720 = 28.8 echoes for 9 actions. This would give you an EPA of 3.2. It requires an opportunity card, but doesn’t the collection of curiosities also require a card? Am I missing something or is this an excellent grind?

Not missing anything and it is indeed an excellent grind even if it’s card based. I got thousand of echoes from it and the sum only goes up. If you have problems with suspicion you can just use the 0-25 Air option in spite for a reduction of 3 or 4; the 3 CP one is better as it yields some material reward.

Since I became a Shepherd (Fate locked Soul Trade) I have no issues regarding this matter. If I’m not grinding something else I just pile up my AP the most I can, keep the card in hand and go for a 35-38 AP run. Using the Workman’s Clothes (-1 Susp) you can increase your menace up to level 8 plus 8 CP. Here’s a long discussion about the strategy I use for long term echo grind.

EDIT: Quick math I’m probably talking about 6k E from this card only in about 10 months.

What action in forgotten quarters lets you grind revolutionary connections in the forgotten quarter for 15 cp an action?

Is it Reaping the academic benefits that needs A Scholar of the Correspondence?

Public Lecture which gives Soc and Boh.
How to use those connections can be read in the link I shared in the previous post.

Thanks.

It’s a very good grind money-wise.

It’s a terrible grind morality-wise :-)
(Unless you’re a Liberation of Night supporter, in which case you’ll be the death of us all…)

MAY be the death, please! Just because someone reached a high level and disappeared doesn’t prove anything!

Rats!

I’m happy to see it really is a good grind. I’ll be very sad if it gets a nerf. The liberation of night is great dov. We can be free from all of those pesky natural laws like death. In Sunless Skies, apparently some of the judgements are dying, which has allowed humanity to go into SPACE!!! (Some speculation there). Be a good citizen and help humanity advance to the space age by blowing up a statue.

Somebody who reached a high level of LON disappeared?

Yes, but no actual connection, just speculations!

Real facts: Spacemarine9 reached level 50 LoN long time ago and finished Seeking so he’s gone! :D

Lots of us are fine, though, and just waiting patiently, quietly, until the time comes to Liberate London. ;)

Hmmm… wait…
If you are already parking at a specific zone (Flit), waiting for a specific opportunity card, why not doing it at your Lodging while waiting for The Neath’s Mysteries → A strange sort of prank and gain EPA of 4 (at the same time spreading the love and making another Londoner make a 4e profit?).
Better grind.

EDIT:
Oops. EPA of 4 times 1 action, instead of 3.2 X 8.

Pretty dumb of me. Carry on, please.

You just hit the pitfall of EPA.

11 actions of 2.6 EPA = 11 x 3.2 = 28.80 echoes earned (actually costs 11 actions since it takes 2 social actions to remove the 8 suspicion you get)
1 action of 4 EPA = 1 x 4 = 4 echoes earned.

Would you rather have 28.80 echoes or 4 echoes?

EPA is only good for comparing things with equal action costs. If they have different action costs, you’ll need to fill in the difference with your basic grind (since that’s what you’ll be spending your remaining actions on when using the option with less actions). Neath’s Mysteries would only possibly overtake Trading Favors in the Flit if your base grind is >= 2.5 EPA or so.[/spoiler]

Although, you do make a decent point that Neath’s Mysteries benefits someone else, which may make it worth it to some people who are particularly altruistic.

Or you could make a deal with someone else to exchange all the neaths mysteries you draw, doubling its frequency and the number of actions you’ll use on it.

Also: calling in Favours with the Revolutionaries increases the Liberation of Night.

So, while profitable, it’s not worth it for me (moral cost is too steep).

Strange thing that you should not trade Bohemians and Society connections from lectures because its slightly lowers EpA. It feels wrong.

Well that’s another example of where EPA can mislead people. Calling in Favors is the best for Bohemians, iirc, and the Tomb Colonist conflict cards is the best for Society. This will make you more money than you’d have otherwise leaving your connections unspent (though you may still want to hoard them for the favors conversion someday in the future).

Count in that instead of lectures you can use Red Pin to increase revolutionary connection. I did so while grinding to Cider to not increase suspicion (as I barred from the potion).

Where did you get the Whisper-Satin from, though?
