So excited for a club that actually fits my character that I just slam-dunked the old one

Hmm, always agonising over the threat of grinding useless ones but that does look pretty pertinent. If I still want to keep my action economy open for making more tracks, is falsifying statistics at the lab the best grind for scrip?[/quote]
I doubt that fake statistics are the best route. The Bone Market values Hinterland Script at 50 pennies a piece, so the research project only nets you 10 echo-equivalent. You’re probably better off grinding Echoes through your favorite method, buying Brass Skulls, and flipping those for Scrip in the Bone Market by assembling skeletons. Or if you happen to have Brass Skulls on hand, skip a few steps.
Personally I’m also stocking up on Rumors of the Upper River… fortunately this is easier as a Crooked-Cross.

Got it. I’ve been on the statistic grind for a while, and I may stick with it a little further because I’m also grinding my Watchful while earning scrip on top of a feew Rumors of the Upper River by graduating prodigies. I’ll reconsider once I hit Watchful 2012 again, but I was always worried skeleton grinds taking too long to find all the bones. Plus I DO still want to keep making railway still and going in/out of the lab/bone market is a small action sink that builds up if I keep going there and back again.
So stoked! That said, would be great to be a member of more than 1 club.
A Clay Tailor, I suppose? A good club for sartorial edification that would be!
I really hope Failbetter will engage with their forum regarding the election this year, and not expect us to tramp off to a bunch of social media sites like last time. Not going to do that. It put me into enough of a bad mood that I ignored the election completely. We’ve been having lots of lovely announcements and informative posts here this year, keep that up! Let’s hope that continues and last year was just a blip. Thanks!
Oh, and thanks for pumping out all this new content, too.
So much content, so little time!
I remember seeing something about this on the subreddit, but it was then taken down. It showed the texture for the railway area(I think) and also I think it had a slightly different poster. I’m just excited to see how this goes down.

I’m with you on the social media sites. I don’t use any social media sites, so if that’s the shape of the election event I’m out in the cold.

I read the Failbetter forums daily, but rarely if ever go to the reddit or the other FL-related social media sites. So I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
I imagine Swedes, snuff and whiskey are somewhat hard to come by in the Neath, let’s hope Failbetter lets us use Clay Men, perfumed gunpowder and wine for our railway construction needs.
Yeah, the construction of the Canadian railroad as a sordid history, with the exploitation of immigrant and all. On a lighter note, if we are going to build a railway to hell, could we use it to make an in-game reenactment of Hadestown?
Well, let’s see. Wine is plentiful, and I don’t see why whiskey couldn’t be distilled from mushrooms. Snuff is available if you don’t mind it being made from scintillack. I haven’t seen much evidence of Swedes, however–either rutabagas or persons originally from Sweden.
Looking at the current map and knowing that the railway would be going west, I expect the railway business would be implemented as storylets in either the Base Camp or the Forgotten Quarter. The Base Camp is more likely.
Unless the Empress thinks that having a train station next to the Shuttered Palace is a good idea.

Absolutely not. She hates loud noises. Incidentally, my grandparents lived across the street from train tracks and it was LOUD.
How much railway steel do people think we’ll need to stockpile for a fast start out west? I’m expecting 10, 50 or 100 depending on how cruel FBG is feeling. Further stations will probably need more - maybe 1,000 or more total?
777, of course.

Of course.
Railway building might need require blowing things up. ;)
Hoard those Perfumed Gunpowder and Hillmovers.
Right.
And the new Lab experiment strongly suggests that smuggling (and by extension, trade) will play a major role Upriver. Presumably, various forms of goods, contraband and/or currency might come in useful. Though likely a lot of emphasis will be on the stuff connected with the Lab, Parabola and the Bone market.
At any rate, can’t wait for tomorrow!
