I have a rather naive question about lodgings. I have obtained, I believe, all of the low level lodgings. Are we actually supposed to use the keys to switch to them? Do we keep the keys for the lodging we moved from?
I confess I have never understood the utility of being able to switch between lodgings of the same tier (obviously moving up a tier is invaluable, but you do that already upon your first purchase of a tier). Are there cards that only appear if you’re at a certain lodging? I know I can host fabulous parties at my townhouse while I reside in my decommissioned steamer with no difficulty. Or is it just so you can get back to your top tier dwelling should you decide to downgrade yourself to finish off a lower tier?
As it currently stands there doesn’t seem to be any benefit accruing from your choice of Lodgings, aside from the number of face-up cards that you can hold. When we had Knife & Candle, each Lodging provided a defensive bonus meaning that it mattered which one we lived in, but right now? They’re essentially interchangeable.
Mmm… yes. I would like to see a greenhouse lodgings, to help my plant. But I think different lodging could have different effects, such as a Bizarre, Respectable or Dreaded boost, since the new stats are hard to increase…
I think it was mentioned in one of the threads discussing free-actions that they were planning to introduce something new soon that would make which lodging you reside in matter beyond hand size (which is why they decided not to make changing it a free action). edited by Malt Jones on 2/25/2012
