So I know an answer to this question probably exists, but I can’t quite remember one.
As is common knowledge, we don’t die permanently while in the Neath. In terms of wounds anyway, I’m not sure the same can be said of old age. Does this same principle apply to animals?
Surprisingly enough, I believe the answer is that we don’t know.

We certainly never see an animal come back, although I see no lore reason for it to not happen.
Well, now that I think about it, we kill an awful lot of rats and they never seem to come back.

I guess that when humans kill animals, we usually do it in very final and thorough ways… we slaughter them, we stamp on them, we hack them to pieces… in many cases, there’s just not enough left of the animal to come back. Also, coming back from severe wounds takes time, as we see repeatedly in the game. Most people in Fallen London, when they’ve killed a bunch of rats, they bring them to the Dept. of Menace Eradication for bounty, and the Dept. takes further care of the corpses, i.e. ensures the rats never return.
I think that in general, we just don’t give animals a chance to come back. The exception here are our precious pets. There are probably a lot of pets in Fallen London who’ve died once or twice and were lovingly pampered back to health by their owners.

I ask this because I was wondering if the Mystic Raven Advisor is the Philosophical advisor “reborn” or an entirely new raven. I know it’s silly and perhaps even overscrupulous, but it’s just a thought that crossed my mind.
The Mystic Raven Advisor might be a reborn raven, like a phoenix. The description for the Mystic Raven states “It won’t eat flesh at all any more.” The “any more” is the important bit. It seems to imply that the Mystic Raven is just a new, reborn version of the old raven that ate meat. If it was a new, completely different raven the “any more” would be unnecessary. Of course, the description for getting the Mystic Raven says it’s a “white raven very like the one that cast itself into the fire” rather than saying it is the old raven, so it could go either way, really.

As definitively as I can answer this, I’d say no. For reasons I won’t spoil, humans’ ability to return in the Neath is tied to the Boatman, and we don’t see or hear of any animal based alternatives to that (Like, say, a boatrat with a tiny rat skull and greatcoat). Also, the Department of Menaces wouldn’t work, as most bounties would just be an inconvenience, and we haven’t heard of any legendary bounties, so to speak, coming back.
