Turns out I had already started it without realizing it - the trip to Chez Chimes was truly enlightening and refreshing. Sorry for the static!
I have finally managed to start this story; very excited! Having read the thread I gather there are different ways to start and there are clues to gather that one can miss out, so I am taking it slow, making sure I explore as much of the content as possible (with the aid of other people’s journals for options not accessible to me…)
So out of curiosity, how many ways are there to start the story? I had the Face Trade result but I can see at least two different “default” options (Sara Hysaro’s and Estelle Knoht’s echos for “Unwelcome” are slightly different). Could I ask what the conditions were for the alternatives? Are there other ways to start the story or only those three?
I would also appreciate a rundown of the rewards for the final choices.
I’ve finished it already, doing what I thought was noble and true to why I took up the job. But I really would like to find out what could have been!
I am now approaching the end and would also really appreciate a run-down of the rewards of the options, please!

Woof! Finished. Wonderful story. Really enjoyed it. I purposefully failed it a couple of times to get all the clues and things so if anyone is interested they are all in my journal.
I went for Option 3 and I checked out the echoes for the other two options in other people’s journals but I would be very curious to know what the actual material rewards are for Options 1 and 2.
One other thing I’d be curious about - did anyone let their Nightmares reach 8 while in the Marsh-House? When I ran out of actions some of the options were shown to lock if you reach Nightmares 8, which suggests to me that instead of going to the State of Some Confusion something else happens…

I entered this story without realizing that my nightmares were at 6. Is there a way to reset the story or reduce nightmares inside the story, or am I screwed?
I’ve found the mushrooms and heard a noise in the basement, but can’t seem to find much else in my multiple stays…
Did you investigate the basement when the noises were happening?
You also want to talk to other members of the household: both the butler and the maid have interesting things to say. (Sorry to say that I passed the quirk checks without problem on all my characters, so I don’t know how else to get information from them).

Re: nightmares hitting 8 - both times I’ve visited, mine hit 8 and off I went to the Mirror Marshes (last time on purpose since I wanted to go there, already had nightmares and couldn’t think of an easy alternative to raise it to 8).
Sadly, it seems like no PM information donors are around those few days.
I’m really hesitating between the 2nd and the 3rd options…
