New art released today?
Please redraw the sardonic music hall singer.
She is so ugly and appears in the deck so frequently
She’s at least two iterations old.

First everything was b/w and very simple illustrations that looked almost scanned in from a sketch pad.

Then came the colored but simple illustrations.

Then the sharper and more angular images we’ve had recently.

Now we’re getting really nice digital paintings.

I like the way everything looks, but I have to say I kind of missed the abundance of silhouette images. They seemed to suit the Neath best in my opinion.

…of course, now London has electric lighting, so maybe that’s making a difference. Wonder how much longer beeswax harvesting will be a viable gig economy?

Art changes are always going to be very controversial. I personally adore all of them I have seen so far. I think they look gorgeous and really fit with the feel I get for the writing of Fallen London. And I have always been a far more the more real pieces compared to the old cartoony and undetailed ones.
So I would like show my appreciation to the art team for these. I love them.

I do not like the new “Stolen Kisses” icon. I can see that it’s practically the same image, but before it looked to me like a very nice “kiss” icon, and now it looks like a close-up of someone’s mouth.

I agree the rest are a culture shock but I can get used to them, the stolen kisses just look like a worse version now

I liked the Rubbery in the top hat better

Another find, the Geography of Winewound has the new foggy streetlamps card:

Also, the &quotMingle with the Guests&quot option from &quotA Polite Invitation&quot. I missed it the first time through by being fashionably late.

Aunt artwork from &quotI’ve Brought Something for You To Try, Dear&quot also updated:

They are very well done.

Tough thing is, since the style changes every few years, it doesn’t really alleviate the reused/recycled artwork issue of lots of minor characters sharing faces.

I’m also finding it weird that the Connected:Criminals card still uses the very old pirate henchman with a knife when so many criminal or docker options are using the new pirate image:

I like most of them a lot. Less behind the new Rubbery and new Kisses artwork…I confess I rather like the cute rubbery. And it fits them wearing clothes trying to fit in. The kisses just don’t look…I don’t know…either romantic or erotic at all? Like the previous was romantic and that is cool but the new does not look like anything but part of a face.

They didn’t update any cards or stories. They only updated images in place. The fellow on the right is the new appearance of the image below (give or take a palette swap). Cards which used that image now use the new one, because it’s the same image URL. Anything referring to the bearded fellow instead of the mustached one are not affected.

I hope this is round 1 of a broader art revamp.

It bugs me that “Invited to another revel of the Masters” has new art. Now it looks new and interesting but is still the same old fraud.

Here’s my thought:
The new art is so alive and it moves me to see how FL’s art direction advances!
But, the Gang of Hoodlums’ new icon is too much. A greenish version and nothing more makes me think, specially in this social context, at an infected criminal. :| Too pale and too stale, sorry! :(

Me too.
Rubbery men looked pathetic and somewhat cute.
Now they look like raw food.

the only objections I have are the amber, the rubbery men, the stolen kisses and the souls (though I think I can learn to love that one).

I also preferred the rubbery man in a top hat, and I liked the revolutionary chap better when he looked more like a Guy Fawkes mask come to life, but Stolen Kisses is the only one that I genuinely think is just a worse version of what it was before. Everything else is just a preference or a negative reaction to newness on my part.

New deep amber art is pretty nice. Really captures the feeling of seeming more organic than mineral.

There, fixed!

Or this one?

Not sure how it suits him better.

In a Failbetter’s twitter post there are other exampes of new art. I can’t figure the wrench, the maid, the old woman and the man with the bowl hat.

This is the one I came to say they NEED to rethink this. I just got the warm amber… the red one & when it is so small… I’m sorry, but THAT should be at Mrs. Plenty’s anatomy tent. Please get that reference so I do not have to crude.

Like, are you serious Fail Better? In this case, please rethink that & fail better at it. I do not want to constantly see that & think, &quotGreat, another ‘stolen kiss’ card with AN UP CLOSE DRAWING OF LIPS… :glares:&quot

I bet bowl hat is &quotChat with the local gossip&quot at your lodgings. His icon is literally called &quotbowler.&quot Maybe the old woman is the Implacable Detective? I don’t see a maid? So I’m not sure what you mean for that. I’m guessing the wrench might come up during anything where you have to fix something. Zee travel, expeditions… otherwise, no idea.
