Hi, I’ve just come back from an extended absence from Fallen London and was hoping to catch July’s story as it looks interesting, but it already seems to be unavailable and replaced by August’s story even though it’s still July? Can this story still be accessed, or has the release schedule changed?
Stories are replaced on certain weekdays - I think it’s the last Thursday of the month, or something along those lines. A bit confusing since that means there’s no set date, to be sure, but that’s how it’s been for as long as I can remember. So I’m afraid you missed it.
Yes, it’s always the last Thursday of each month. The changeover usually happens shortly after 12 noon UK time.
If you had an active subscription before the changeover, you could always try emailing support@failbettergames.com and asking them to unlock Written in the Glim for you. I hear they’re pretty understanding about such matters.
Thanks guys. No I don’t have a subscription, as I’d had a break from Fallen London for a while due to time restraints and only came back the other day and thought I had until the end of the month to decide so looks like I missed out by a day (Went to buy it yesterday.) Not so sure on the next story so might leave buying a subscription for another month (In the past I’ve tended to buy them month by month if I really like the look of the stories.)

For instance, if you buy Exceptional Friendship on August 29 (the last Wednesday of the month), your subscription should run to September 29, a Saturday. That means you can unlock the August ES the day you buy the subscription, then unlock the September ES anytime within the next month, and unlock the October ES just a few days before your subscription expires.
Hi! I have a question - I think I unlocked this story in the Season hub and started playing the first couple storylets of it, but I’m not sure because I can’t find the storylets for it. Does anyone know what the first few locations you head to in the story are?
(Also, is there anything I can do if I didn’t unlock the story besides wait for it to be available on the fate page in a couple months?)
IIRC the storylets are mainly in Mrs Plenty’s Carnival. In general, if you’re can’t find the next step of an Exceptional Story, check at the six early-game locations. (Lodgings, Watchmaker’s Hill, Spite, Veilgarden, Ladybones Road, Mrs Plenty’s Carnival.) Because ESes have to be playable for everyone, the next step will always be visible at at least one of those locations. Unless you’re waiting for a card, of course, but that’s pretty rare (and doesn’t happen in this story).
If you forgot to unlocked the story, but had an active subscription during it, you can always email support@failbettergames.com and ask them to unlock it for you. They’re usually very understanding about these things.
