January’s Exceptional Story: Lamentation Lock

Oh, it is well known fact the the first million (penses) must be stolen, to be a respectable (overgoat’ed) person of success afterwards ;)

I loved the artwork and would love to see the Cumaen Canal as a great game oriented area that can be reached by Zee. Like Apis Meet.

Unless I missed something, this is the first time you can obtain tragedy proceedings without actually getting an excerpt from said proceedings. Somewhat disappointed by that - all the previous sources of tragedy proceedings have been sources of some awesome lore

With all this Noman commotion do remember to unlock this story, if you haven’t, by tomorrow! Less than 25 hours left.

EDIT: As tomorrow is the last Thursday of January, it must be unlocked by them, the 25th. But I noticed this:
This is the Exceptional Story for January 2018. Be sure to play this branch before January 28th when our next Exceptional Story unlocks!
Sent a mail to support so we can just wait.

Might be a copy/paste error. Last month (December), the 28th was indeed the last Thursday of the month.

Lamentation Lock definitely must be unlocked by players ahead of 25th January if anyone wants to save that Exceptional Story for a later date. On the 25th our February Exceptional Story: Factory of Favours will go live. Apologies for any confusion, delicious friends

There is a flaw here, I believe. I opted to fight and defeat the Pugilist, which gave the message: You have defeated the leader of Violent Ward. This will not help you leave Lamentation Lock unless you also defeat the leaders of Thieves’ Ward and Traitors’ Ward.

At that point, I was disappointed, because the information came too late to be helpful and would have changed my decision if it had been available.

I understood it to mean I no longer had the option to redeem either of the other characters. However, that did not prove to be the case, and I redeemed both.

Now that I find myself on the point of leaving, the above warning proves to be inaccurate in another way. I certainly can leave without defeating the other two, though I no longer have the option to either take all three or leave alone.

Defeating The Pugilist wont help you leave unless you defeat all three, the message is perfectly accurate. The assumption you made that it would hinder you leaving wasn’t stated anywhere in the message

It perhaps could have been worded better, but it’s not actually wrong

My understanding differs.

What’s the reward for defeating them all?

Before I make my choice, I’m curious as to what the rewards are - both for defeating the individual ringleaders, as well as for the different endings.

In particular, is there any reason to try for a completionist ending other than the satisfaction of such? Or is there nothing to lose by only saving one of them?

Well, beating all 3 gets you the rarest item, but they’re all the same value. a fragment of tragedy procedures

Thanks for the info. How about the rewards for the other endings? I would very much appreciate a list if one can be found.

Some clarification:

You can betray or redeem each of the ringleaders. Betraying them means you won’t be able to take them with you when you leave. [If you redeem them, all options remain open.] Edit: Apparently that’s not true!

 • if you leave along you will get the Fragment (to the best of my knowledge it doesn’t matter if you betrayed or redeemed them)[/li][li]if you leave with all three, you will get 3x Favour in High Places + 1x Blackmail Material + 2x Night on the Town

No idea what you get when you leave with just one of them. I’d like to know, too.

…I’m not sure if that’s a graphical glitch, or some sort of code, or what, but I’ll PM them to you.

Yep, either the forum or my browser glitched. No idea what happened there. Anyway, it’s fixed now.

I’d also like to know the rewards I’m missing (for taking only one of them).

Thanks for the answers to both of you!

PM sent.

That’s not entirely true; you can’t leave alone if you’ve redeemed anyone. (Which is what I was planning to do, but the darn thief wouldn’t be gotten rid of after having been inspired).

You can’t?

I’m fairly sure I had the option to leave alone despite redeeming all three. But it’s been a while. Maybe this has been adjusted?!
