I’m having less time for actual gameplay (mental energy is too low lately), so if you have suggestions for how to best grind each stat, please share :)

Where are you in the game? Since your profile is hidden, any advice might be way out. For example, the railway is important for a couple of stats, but if you’re bumping around under 100, there’s no point mentioning it.

At low levels, the best thing to do is probably play through the four Making Your Name storylines. Have you finished all four of those?

If you don’t really care for efficiency of either leveling or profit and you have access to The Blind Helmsman you can get to L.B. Industries via Head Far Beneath the Blind Helmsman. There’s actions that use all four of the main stats and none raise menaces on a failure. So you can just park you character there, log on, click actions until your candle is snuffed and log out.
If you would like to actually get the most progression in levels out of it, you should invest in a Talkative Rattus Faber to get your stats low and keep failing checks that don’t raise menaces.
- For Shadowy: Assist with assembly at L.B. Industries (see above)
- For Dangerous: Sow carnage and Defect to the Dagger in Old Newgate which you reach from The University via Hunt Bees in Old Newgate
- For Persuasive: Suggest that they define knowledge at the Spider Symposium which you reach from The Singing Mandrake via Head Into the Cellars, Then Further Down

I would recommend loitering with an alt (social action + use second chances to raise stats in the same storylet). Extremely high speed for one character, you can hit shadowy 200 in couple of weeks IIRC. After that switch to grind persuasive, again social action with an alt. Meanwhile boosting watchful and dangerous with weekly limited letters and lessons by Patron.

Well it’s how FL designed. Tons and tons of mindless grind to pad small gems of content. And there is a choice. Frontload some parts of grind and move much more efficiently. Or play “naturally” which will result in grinding 5+ times more.
Optimal strategy in my opinion is to boost stats by social actions until you get to 90% chance on current Making Your Name challenge (or other important story). This will provide the best proportion of grind and story per real time. But it’s outside of bounds of this topic.
