Hallowmas is here!

[li]
This is exactly my problem, as mentioned on the previous page. Any answers, anyone?

Oops. I blame all the irrigo for my forgetting where this started!

@Madman, Snotra: This sounds really strange. Have you tried clearing your cache, logging out and back in? If that doesn’t help, definitely contact support.

I think this can happen if you receive more than 6 non-PoSI confessions since those above 6 do not add to your Confessions quality.

But, don’t take my word for it, this is my first Hallowmas…

I know that mt drop down list includes names from past years (definitely haven’t confessed to me this year). But the confession count started from 0 this season.

That is: the confession count resets each season, but if someone confessed before, they still have Trust:you(1), which allows you to select them this year.

Unless FBG give us all as many confession as there are people with Trust:us(1), we won’t be able to address them all.

This cannot be - or, if at all then only if you haven’t yet devoured or betrayed their confessions from last year!
I know exactly which people confessed to me last year, because I devoured their confessions at the first day of Hallowmas and put down their names in my notepad file. They have never appeared in my drop-down menu afterwards.

[/li][li]Same problem here, apparently I have one confession left- but there are three names in the drop-down menu. Am I going to have to choose just one?

I’ve had a similar thing for a few days now - sent an email to support early this morning.
I’m not expecting a reply just yet - time zones and all that - but I’m sure they’ll figure something soon, even if only a temporary workaround.
I managed to hit 500 spirit so I’m not too bothered, though I would prefer not to have 2 people missing out on their confessions being consigned due to a glitch.

It can, and does, happen. Here’s how:

In the first stage of Hallowmas, you can request and accept confessions, and also devour (or expose) older confessions from past years. This is determined by the Trust and Exposed By qualities.

  • Alice can only request a confession from Bob if he had never confessed to her (meaning that neither his Trust nor his Exposed By qualities include Alice, at any level). If he accepts, Bob will have Trust:Alice(1), and Alice will get 1 x confession.[/li][li]Alice can only devour a request from Bob if his Trust quality includes Alice(2), meaning that he has confessed before, and she has kept it.

Then comes the second stage of Hallowmas. Now you can decide if to keep confessions or expose them.
Alice’s drop down list will only include Bob if he has Trust:Alice(1). If she chooses Consign/Bury, Bob will have Trust:Alice(2), and Alice will lose 1 x confession.

But, if Alice does nothing with Bob’s confession in stage 2 (for whatever reason), then Bob will still have Trust:Alice(1) for next year, but Alice’s confession count will reset at the end of the holiday. So next year, Alice can’t choose devour/expose a the first holiday stage (since Bob doesn’t have Trust:Alice(2)). And in the second holiday phase, Alice will have more people as options in her drop down list than she has confessions from the new holiday season.

And when sending/requesting/receiving dozens (or hundreds) of confessions, it’s hard to keep track of them all, even when keeping notes. This year, I’ve received a few message of people consigning/burying/gossiping my confessions, from people who I confessed to last year and definitely not this year (I have personal notes from the past holidays).

If this is your first year and have more names on the dropdown than you have Confession it is probably because you requested single menace confessions that were accepted after you got to Confessions 6. Unfortunately they don’t count - you would have got a message at the time they were accepted saying so but it is very easy to miss such a thing when you are getting so many messages.

I had to read your post twice, but I eventually understood ;). Yes, I can see how that might happen. That’s a very unfortunate glitch in the system.
Guess all the people I confessed to last year came around to doing something with those confessions. That probably won’t be the case this year, as the sheer number of people I’ve confessed to this year is so much higher. Meaning a lot of us will encounter this problem next year if it’s not fixed until then…

Actually, just to add to the confusion, I mentioned a similar effect earlier: as a non-POSI capable of sending out only single-menace confession requests, I sent out far more than 6 (misunderstood the rule). The Confessions capped, I couldn’t send any more. Fine, but most of the confession requests were to POSIs who were destined to receive many, many requests. When I began to bury my Confessions, the index went down – but then, if one of the outstanding requests was accepted, it ticked back up. The net result for me was to have many more than 6 Confessions accepted and buried, but I still have more in the drop-down than I have Confessions. So I either inadvertently exploited a glitch, or am being victimized by one, but either way, I think I didn’t have the Hallowmas Failbetter intends for non-POSI.

Ah, that clarifies that, anyway. I shall follow your example then, for the unfortunates whose confessions I cannot bury.

I don’t think I can send gifts to all the people whose confession I can’t bury. My list of available buries is like 400 names long and I only have like 100 confessions to use. I don’t think it affects your ability to devour next year though so it shouldn’t be a problem. Confessions I use affect my ability to devour iirc. In any case, apologies for the inconvenience.

Now that I have 500 spirit, what should I do with my remaining confessions? Would be wise to consign to them to the bazzaar as well (I already sent in 80) or should I actually spend these on the Masters? Though I would prefer not to cause too much harm to those who they came from.

If you consign/bury them, then you can devour them next year for 6 Spirit points, giving you a much better head start.

I know. So far I have already assigned enough to get me 480 spirit right off the bat next year, so I am wondering what I should do with the remaining confessions.

My advice is to follow your heart. If you want spirit, go for spirit. If you want masters, go for masters. Possibly, please respect the ‘do not betray’ list if at all possible. Betrayal out of the blue may offend some people, so be advised that is a risk you take, but you are free to take that risk if you so desire. The choices are yours and yours alone :-)

I suppose I will go half and half then. Thanks!

How long will Mr Huffman be about?
