Hallowmas 2025: The Feast of Masks

You missed one. There are a total of 12 new cameos, original set was 48 cameos, now a total of 60 cameos to choose from.

Rubber:

The artwork for that one isn’t new, but I don’t think it was introduced in the last major cameo update either. I think it snuck in sometime between now and then, and/or has been generally lurking about the place!

For once, I’ve no idea who and what to get with my confessions this year. Probably not some of the new ones, but I’ll need to tally up how much getting stuff costs.

Well, I’ve been companioned out for a while now, but getting outlandish crew is always amusing, and I also still have a dearth of some of the more esoteric qualities, so I’ve found things to spend most of them on.

If it makes a difference, two of the returning companions are marriage material.

I realised my difficulty came from somehow believing I only had 12 confessions to work with.

Helpful tips for the newbies to tackle Hallowmas.

  1. Keep your Cheesemonger story unfinished, keep the progress hovering at 3 or 4. It’s an abundant source of favours. Helpful if your masque card stubbornly refuses to appear.

  2. Go to Watchmaker’s Hill and change to a pet which gives you a favour which grants access to the particular masque you wish to spend time in.

  3. Get lots of consumables which greatly boost the progession while you’re in a masque. For example, Strangling Willow Absinthe for Pavilion of Butterflies. This should be ideally done months before Hallowmas begins.

  4. There are four types of masques, and only three of the four are active each Hallowmas.

Hallowmas 2021: No Demon.
Hallowmas 2022: No Crown.
Hallowmas 2023: No Moth.
Hallowmas 2024: No Baby.
Hallowmas 2025: No Baby.

Unless FL is going for a hat trick, it is highly likely that Baby will be available in Hallowmas 2026, while one of the other three will not be available next year. Plan accordingly. Perhaps grab an extra menace-increasing item.

Check your list – this year it’s no Demon.

My bad, so Hallowmas 2025 has no Demon.

That means the cycle continues, there will be no Crown in Hallowmas 2026.

Edit: misread the formula for Knight Of Hallowmas increase, rendering my question irrelevant).

Have a good day, and happy Hallowmas! :ghost:

Summary

Delightful friends,

I’m looking for confirmation on a piece of Fallen London mechanic, specifically the “bankers’ rounding” method described here.

=> It specifies that if the number’s decimal part is exactly 0.5 then the number is rounded to the nearest even number. It is assumed to be implemented by FBG.

I’m going to reach 10350 spirit of Hallowmas, which translates to 394.5 CP of Knight of Hallowmas (I’m assuming I was a Knight in 1897. Edit: no need to assume, it’s an actual specific quality…). For me, this amount of CP will mean either:

  • if rounded to 394 as it should, reaching level 52 of the Knight of Hallowmas with 52 remaining CP;
  • or if rounded to 395, reaching level 53.

I’m asking because the wiki is missing the level 52 description, so I could deliver it, but for some reason, I’m sorely tempted to have my cake and eat it too (i.e..go to the highest level I can).

Going back to my initial query, can anyone attest that this rounding method applies?

If you read until here, thank you for indulging my optimisation fancies.

So… are the two new Agents useful? Do they unlock new missions, or are they better at existing missions than existing Agents?

The diver has quite a high base Watchful so they’re useful for using less gear if you’re going for a watchful plot.

Their secondary abilities are awkward. The Tiger can’t run the most profitable Intelligencier scheme, which requires Human. The Diver has Zubmersible but no Exploration, making them no good at the one Zubmersible plot. And you don’t have a need for a second Zubmersible agent with only one such plot.

They have generally good stats, making them better and/or require less gear for many plots. The main exception being the Tiger has slightly lower shadowy than the Snuffer, making them less suited for Breaking & Entering.

They’re theoretically good, but the current set of Plots don’t give them anything to do or much of a niche.

The Pale Tabernacle shows that more Plots can be added later. I’m getting them in case of future updates, but also I don’t have more urgent needs.

The Tiger would be the best Intelligencer, if they were human. Like this I don’t really know what to do with them.

Leapt the gap I was aiming for on Knight and landed at 53: Bleak Abstraction. Hopefully some of those wiki spaces will be filled out this year :crossed_fingers:

Final count: 7,659 Spirit. Decent enough showing considering I spent my actions on other stuff beside Menaces grinding. Leapt from 9 to 24.

I went from 7 to 10, Fox to Florid Mortification. I thought it’d be higher but I think I misunderstood the formula on the wiki (I thought that the number after the calculation with the excess Spirit was levels to increase by, but seems to actually be change points). I like “florid mortification” anyway.

Yeah, also missed level 52 :stuck_out_tongue:

It seems the Knight of Hallowmas quality CP needed to level up max at 50 (my predictions work out with this hypothesis).

Is it like a common thing for all qualities?
Though for levels it’s 70 if I remember correctly.

I think I’ve seen 50CP categories before (though stats are 70 I believe). But yeah, mine confirms it needs 50 (22 through 28 to go).

Everything except the four highway stats is 50cp per level after level 50. IIRC the 4 stats going up to 70cp per level after 70 was a new thing at some point long ago (I think it was one of the occasions when stat hard cap was raised, long before it was 200?)
