With the new Docks system added, Favors: The Docks are kinda hard to come by. Because of this, I cannot easily acquire my expedition supplies like I used to (and the Docks Beer Mug is of no use to me since it only spends favors)
Is there any way to spend, or LOSE, Renown: The Docks? If I lost it, I could just go meet the sailors at the carnival… Or are there other, better options to get E.S.?[li]

Nope! (I mean, seeking probably will when it gets readded, but there isn’t right now)
Your best bet if you want to use Docks to get Expeditions is to get the Docks Connected Pet, the Taciturn Mynah.
Edit: Fixed typos. Cell phone touch screens are annoying.

Either whispered hints or just paying cash.
It’s worth noting that favours are actually a more efficient way of getting supplies than connections were. They’re just not as readily available.
Actually, I get about 3-4 favours a day via cards with the mynah and closest to docks. I tend to draw in the docks as well, but gather that makes no difference. An evening’s zailing comes up all the time. Of course, it may all just be luck of the draw.
I only get 1-2 favors a day at best, but they aren’t exactly rare beyond all comparison. they’re just a bit scarce.
Oh, what does Closest To change?
I don’t know that it changes anything. I only mentioned it in case anyone knows more. And because I was surprised that favours seem rare to some.
The Taciturn Mynah gives favours? Does that mean the same will be eventually true of other connected pets? That could prove very useful if I keep my racing slug.
Yes, it will be true of all connected pets, or at least that appears to be the current trajectory. some are more useful than others- criminal favors aren’t worth that much and have numerous sources, while docks has one natural card, but all will give favors, it seems.
This is why I’ve switched (for now) my Grubby Kitten (which was properly named Miss Kitty Fantastico, of anyone gets the reference :-)) with a Bandaged Raven.
The raven’s card gives me the Favours: Tomb-Colonists I then use to trade Collections of Curiosities with the colonists when their card appears.

Criminal Favours are worth 4.4 E each with the Renown 20 card A Merry Sort of Crime ;)[li]
Or 4.28 from Try to glimpse a notorious smuggler and 5 CP to Constable which is ~0.435 AP (considering you get those Connections with Casing). So, I guess it’s a better version or, if you don’t care about the Echoes you can always chose Tip the squatters off (Arson and Avarice) from the same card for Urchin Connections.
The 20 renown card will certainly be the best soon as the Constable will get their Renown.

4.8 echos if you are a spirifer, on One stone in a thousand (from the same card - Implausible Penance)
Bluh. Assuming readily available 150 ppa grind (because it’s a nice round number, and worse than affair of the box), criminal favours are worth:
implausible penance/1-stone-in-1000 when spirifier: 4.8e - 1.16actions = 3.06e
implausible penance/1-stone-in-1000 otherwise: 3.2e - 1action = 1.7e
implausible penance/glimpse a notorious smuggler: 4.28-1action = 2.78 ; the constables connections is currently negligible, because you can’t turn it into any decent amount of anything sellable
implausible penance/smuggle brandy/salvage party: (20e-1action)/7=2.64e
a merry sort of humbug: 4.4e-1action=2.9e
Things are only worth how much they can increase your wealth. Not how much you can get if you also throw in something else.
(unless you need specific items)
Note that you should use this to evaluate the actions that pay out in favours, in the first place.
Example: if an action gives 1 favour and nothing else, that counts as 2.9 epa for that action - and only 1.5 epa for the cash-in action.
If another action gives 3 favours and 120 connection “some connection that still exists and has a repeatable cash-in option” and a cellar of wine, in exchange for X echo, then the entire action is worth 3*2.9+(2.4-1action)+12.5-X=22.1-X, and you would only profitably take it if 22.1-X>1.5 (i.e. if it costs less than 20.6 echoes).
This is predicated on the assumption that you have a stable good grind, and only need to evaluate things that are 1) limited (you get them any time you want - if you could, they would become your new “stable good grind”) and 2) are better than your current “stable good grind” (otherwise you don’t want to get them at all, and the saed actions become worth as much as your “good stable grind” is)
This is also why I don’t bother calculating epa for any such chains of actions.
