Ah, I see a brand new option for the happily married at the Pleasure Garden and Masked Ball. How lovely!

This is my first year with this, and I’m a bit confused as to what it’s all about. I’ve seen the Rose–I think–and I’ve got an option now that’s greyed out to me: “committed”. I have no idea how to go about getting committed. Perhaps I’m too flighty?
Committed is a quality you get if you get a Constant Companion, I believe they’re called? It’s content requiring over 100 of each stat. I can’t talk about the Fest myself. I’m still gallivanting around out at Zee.
It’s a little odd, though, that they only give 30p worth of Notions, considering the requirements.
I think its more a case of giving those of us who have a constant companion something to do with them, and it has to be admitted that the festival is perfect for such
Admittedly, it was a very nice change for me to be able to dance with my companion in public to approving nods rather then the usual shock and horror reactions that happens the few times we head outside on walks.

Well of course, and I do appreciate it. I’m just concerned that anyone able to play those storylets has little reason to do so repeatedly, as they could acquire Romantic Notions much more quickly by converting honey from Unfinished Business in Veilgarden. Though admittedly that doesn’t help you make waves, which I might be severely undervaluing.
Also, many felicitations to your rubbery union.
I think the whole point of most of the festival is ways to increase your “Making Waves” quality. Though, I’m starting to hit the point where I actually win against folks in social actions, so it’s not like I’ll be wanting for more of that quality, I think.
Trouble is, my “making waves” started the festival at 23, and almost nothing in the festival will increase it past 19, which makes almost all the holiday actions pretty pointless. I think a lot of higher level people are having the same trouble with it. And i had such fun with it last year when I was a brand new player.
I’m having fun anyway, though actually for a particulare request in my Ambition I passed the last day grinding Persuasive and Jade at the Shuttered Palace (and still doing it ^^ )

Well, I viewed finding the true rose as the objective for this event. I did so, had fun, and now I’m back to my usual stuff.
I don’t think it is possible to see the true rose more than twice. It is only supposed to be seen once, but because of a bug some people didn’t see it at all but still reached the story end state. The way they fixed the bug meant that everyone who was currently at the end state got to see the rose one time then went into a new end state. So people who weren’t bitten by the bug saw it twice and those that were saw it once. People who have recently started their quest will only see it once. Be grateful you’ve had a once in a lifetime opportunity twice!
I did enjoy seeing the rose. Twice, since I found it the first time before the reward was tweaked!
How long would you say it takes to see the True Rose? I’ve been putting it off until the feat is almost over. I’m out at Zee and don’t want to trek back to London until I’m done out here, but wouldn’t want to miss it.
About a full day, I guess. It’s almost entirely played through opportunity cards, so the time it takes depends strongly on luck. It’s probably best to return to London’s shore as soon as you can manage.

Indeed I am!
I was just puzzled because the first time didn’t seem buggy at all (I got the right conclusion card), and the second time the reward was different, so I thought it was meant to be like that.
I may say that this festival is fun (first time for me) but the options give way too many confident smiles… I shouldn’t complain really, but I am a bit embarrassed on how easy is to get them (and now I have a ton of them!). On the downside, as I don’t remember who said, there are many options that depend on luck only (as most of the Duchess’ banquet and several of the Pleasure garden) and can be pretty harsh (killing your making waves very fast for example). So I restrict myself to few options only, these are too risky.[/quote]
There are NEVER too many Confident Smiles :P I had to grind 5 points of Persuasive for my Ambition and doing it at Modest difficulty I passed from 35 to 9 Confident Smiles in a breeze T.T

Lies! I have 86 of the suckers and I fear for what I shall do next time I find myself needintg to visit the Tomb Colonies. It’d be nice if there was a way to trade them in for something less troublesome.

I agree. I was hoping there might be different actions this year, perhaps a chance to pick up a special Constant Companion, but it appears not to be. I had fun last year, but this year I think my stats are too high to get much benefit from the Feast.

There can indeed be too many Confident Smiles. I have One Hundred and Seventy Seven of them! My persuasive is capped and was my first stat to hit the cap so it’s difficult for me to fail at persuasive tasks, and I keep accruing them. Even if I lost as many as you did, I would still have far too many!

I have to ask - are you a Seeker of the Name? If so, you will know what I’m referring to. If you’re either not or just a dabbler, know that after the travails of Seeking, you will no longer think that you have too many!
Oh Confident Smiles! I used to have over 200 and never knew what to do with them! (then they [redacted] oh wait, this was just mentioned previous to this post. Nevermind)

Speaking of Seeking… I am slightly disturbed to see that participating in various festivities during the Feast has raised my Unaccountably Peckish quality from 1 to 3. Could the Rose actually be linked to a certain name…?
(I am not yet actually Seeking the Name myself; I am currently impatiently flipping opportunity cards to get the right dream to start on the mad endeavour. Hidden knowledge must be uncovered!)
