Farewell to Ziggy Stardust

David Robert Jones, 8 January 1947-10 January 2016.

– Mal

Well, now there really is a Starman waiting for us out there. He already blew our minds.

Such terribly sad news. Goodbye Goblin King, we shall miss you.

Oh wow…such sad news. Every girl I knew back in the 80s had a crush on this guy, including me. I still remember watching Labyrinth for the first time at a slumber party and you could practically see the little cartoon hearts floating above the head of every girl in the room.

I’m not usually affected by celebrity deaths all that much but these last two have hit kinda hard :(

I got this album in the mail yesterday only to read the news this morning. I’m a sadder person today.

That was some terrible news to wake up to this morning. I always admired him deeply, he was the first musician I became a fan of in my youth. Now I’m sadly humming Bowie tunes all day.

Nice little tribute to him in FL today, same as when Pratchett died. I like that a little outfit like Failbetter can add little personal touches like that.

I’m fond of saying that, at any given moment, a nonzero percentage of my brain is dedicated to thinking of Bowie’s 1995 album Outside. I even named my Pirate Poet Ramona in honour of one of that story’s villains. Well, Ramona will be flying the black flag upside-down in mourning for one who has sailed into the High Wilderness.

Somehow… after spending all day listening to the music, and everyone’s recollections… I was through my day of mourning… and then I noticed the Bowie quote on FL… and my mourning began anew

Goodnight, sweet prince.

I’ll always be a rock ‘n rollin’ bitch for you, Dave.

If anyone’s interested, the video game David worked on, Omikron: The Nomad Soul, is now free in the Square Enix Store, for a limited time. Play it. It’s wonderfully, nostalgically Bowie-esque.
