Fallen London Website Redesign Now Live

Delicious friends, our beloved Fallen London has received a marvelous update! After receiving some lavish care from our tech team, Fallen London has a sleek new look!

Some changes you may notice:

 • Fallen London is now responsive! It will convert to a mobile friendly version on mobile browsers and also when you reduce the browser size on your desktop. It’ll begin to go into responsive mode at 1199px wide and enter full ‘mobile’ mode at 767px.[/li][li]No more circular icons. We still want to distinguish between Status qualities and Thing qualities, so Status qualities now have rounded edges, and Thing qualities (items) have sharp corners.[/li][li]Myself and Possessions now have their own tabs[/li][li]We’ve added a Search Bar to the Bazaar, Myself and Possessions tabs[/li][li]There’s now a new Side Menu for the Bazaar, Myself and Possessions Tabs, with links to quickly jump to different categories/shops. In responsive mode this will change to a drop down list which will remain at the top of the page[/li][li]The Fallen London logo (at the top of the Account Settings and Help pages) is now the Return to World button[/li][li]Second chances are now included in the branch itself, rather than in the sidebar

We’re staggering the launch somewhat, so you’ll notice www.fallenlondon.com is now live, but that fallenlondon.storynexus.com still has the old site running. We’ll update this thread as soon as they’re both officially live.

Have further questions? Check out the FAQ.

Lesleyann has also begun a thread on the FBG forum to share our journey, what feedback we took onboard, and why some of these changes were made.

Known Issues and Bugs
Work on the site isn’t yet fully complete, as our tech team will continue to make tweaks and fix bugs that you will undoubtedly help us uncover over the coming weeks. Please send any bugs (or general feedback) directly to fallenlondonredesign@failbettergames.com.

This is quite the momentous occasion in Fallen London’s timeline, and we hope all our changes make the Fallen London experience even more enjoyable!

UPDATE 6TH JUNE 2018

We’re going to delay updating the fallenlondon.storynexus.com URL to the new site for the time being while we squash some extra high-priority bugs. Once we’re confident that’s sorted, we’ll update that URL to the new site as well. Thank you kindly for your patience in advance, delicious friends

UPDATE 8 JUNE 2018

Hello delicious friends - it has been an exciting and boisterous week here at Failbetter after having launched the Fallen London website redesign! We’ve received a lot of feedback and joyous squeals from you over the past few days, and we can’t thank you enough for it.

In fact, the amount of people logging on to try out the new site has far exceeded our expectations! As such, we need to do some server work and bug fixes to cater for all the traffic. There are a couple of issues specifically to do with usage and load times that are plaguing quite a few players.

Therefore, this weekend (9-10 June) we’ve decided to point the www.fallenlondon.com URL back to the old site - as we’re not around to handle support over the weekends and we want to make sure all players have the best playing experience possible. If you’re feeling daring and still want to play on the new site, it’ll be available via beta.fallenlondon.com. This switch will take place around 15:30 Friday 8th June.

Rest assured these issues are at the top of the list and we’re focused on making sure the new site can go live across all the URLs as soon as we’ve squished bugs and straightened kinks. We’ll keep updating these threads as things change.

Also check out the Known Issue thread, which also lists how to report bugs.

Thank you in advance for your patience.

When you say that Second Chances are &quotOn the Branch itself&quot, what does that signify? I can’t see them anywhere on the screen unless I go into my inventory and check the &quotAdvantage&quot section.

EDIT: As long as I’m here, I’d like to repeat my request to make it possible to save the little sidebar snippets to your journal again. I kind of miss having that functionality.

Hey there,

By second chance info we mean this:

Obviously if you’ve got 100% chance of success then you don’t see this.

And I can confirm we will reinstate the ability to add the sidebar snippets to your journal at some point in the future. We want to shake down any big functionality issues over the coming weeks first though.

Seems like the number of second chances is displayed next to the checkbox that lets you use one - there’s a screenshot in the Dev Blog pinned thread.
I also echo the journalling of snippets complaint.

EDIT: Owch, ninja’d by a minute!

::

So, my question is how long the old (storynexus) interface will be kept in working order.

See, I have an old OS (iOS 6.something) on my mobile platform and the new website doesn’t seem to work in my browser, at all. I can’t get a different browser since they all require newer generations of OS, which I’m not updating on my oldish tablet for a number of reasons.

That unfortunately probably means that once you disable the old website, I’ll be stuck with only playing from desktop computer. Which is rather inconvenient, especially with the election coming :(

Any others having this kind of issue? Or is there any chance of the revamped site working for older OS-running devices under some circumstances?

Please leave the old site there too. I really don’t think I am going to get along with the new one. It’s kind of horrible. I think I hate it.

The redesign has gone live on fallenlondon.com today. Tomorrow fallenlondon.storynexus.com will also redirect to the redesign. Since iOS 6 support ended in 2016 it’s hard for us to develop for it so we’re not actively supporting it. We are making some tweaks in the future so the functionality is beta in iOS 9 and this may have a knock-on effect, but we can’t guarantee it.

I feel you. I will give it a chance, but I still can’t find anything positive besides the aesthetics (which I really like). I need to do more clicking, two to three times more scrolling… what the hell?

It’s worth checking out our dev blog and keeping your eye on the Known Issues thread which has an Upcoming Changes section. The redesign is live but there’s still a lot to do to get it to where we want it. Space and the amount of scrolling is one of the things we will be looking at in the future.

If I am not mistaken, FailbetterFuzz mentioned that Randomizer qualities (suchs as the Airs of London) have been intentionally removed from the profile. Giving a last ditch shout out attempt to save the Airs but apparently chances aren’t great.

Wait what, why would they possibly do this?

I’m not altogether sure this is actually ready to launch. It’s slow as hell and buggy as flip. Right now the option to get favours on faction cards is not working at all for me. It just kicks me off the card back to my location, and the card is still there in my hand.

(Oops, sorry. Just noticed I’m supposed to send this direct to support rather than rattle on here.)

I heard the news but for some reason I still have the old layout despite deleting fallen london’s old cookies on my laptop. Either I’m doing something wrong or I can’t access the new version of the site.

Though I do like the overall aesthetic, I really sad to see what it has done to the ‘possession’ slot. It feels cramped and overfilled compared to the more open elegance of the old one.

Is it on purpose or a mistake that all the pictures of the items and possessions have been cropped from their original size down to lose at least a third of every single picture?
It breaks my heart to see all those beautiful and charming artworks cropped and crammed into small cramped squares :(

The old site is still live at fallenlondon.storynexus.com currently. The new one is located on fallenlondon.com, and it should make its way to the previous address tomorrow.

Many thanks. I was able to access it now thanks to your help. :D

The search bar is amazing. Obviously, the rest of it is good as well, but the search bar is, far and away, my favourite thing. Thank you.

My husband has wanted a search bar for inventory for years now; he is pleased that that functionality has finally been implemented. So am I; thank you.

I believe to prevent players from checking them by saving them to their profile to get exact values
