EXCEPTIONAL STORY: FLINT PART I, KNIFE OR CANDLE

Darn, I read halfway down page 5 and spent quite a while calculating out whether there’s any better way to get the Mysteries of the Elder Continent. If it was still one action to convert them to Passphrases, doing 21 loops of the sequence metasynthie devised would have been slightly more profitable. The first 20 loops each accumulate 25 Relics of the Third City extra, so at the 21st loop you would end up with 500 Relics ready and save around 45 actions. As far as I can tell that would have brought the overall profitability up from 1.75 to 1.76 EPA.

Sadly balance reigns supreme.

I saved the Bishop’s sister and then went to select a deputy and the Quiet Woman was not an option. Perhaps there’s another requirement? Or you need to rescue her before selecting any crew.

The quiet woman is not the quiet deviless (FNORD!) either. At least, not in the recruitment storylet.
Or maybe there will be another choice in part 2.

Why?.. I must have missed that bit… (or at least which option/outcome gives you the answer?)

And could it be related to wax-wind?
Probably not Candle snuffer - Wikipedia though.

Did anyone get any Rare Successes on attacking the Patroness? The standard fail/success results really don’t seem to warrant such a high difficulty!

They like the wax. According to a certain passage uncovered when researching a certain idol, they sometimes break open beehives, like honey badgers.

Ah! Thank you

What does the bishop give you if you escape with the Knapt?

An Element of Dawn.

So, anyone else excited for tomorrow’s arrival of Flint Part II? I’m feeling it’s going to be epic, in both size and ambition. I was particularly excited by the comments that it will be the biggest piece of new content Fallen London has seen and Alexis’s admission that, paraphrase, he went nuts, unparaphrase.

Also, on one of the enduring mysteries from Flint Part I, I wondered if

the Quiet Woman deputy may only become available later on in the adventure, perhaps after your present deputy has copped it. I hope not – I don’t want to lose my Music-Hall Singer in the Elder Continent!

I am very excited. I adore things Continental.
All that lore about!

Since search isn’t so great, I’ll just ask. I haven’t headed south yet, but was wondering if you still need to worry about Making Waves if you do. I’d hate to lose notability while out of continent.

I don’t know anything about Flint but I have never heard of anything stopping the inexorable march of time. For peace of mind, you can always wait until just after it hits, immediately raise MW up to your Notability level, and then you have just under two weeks before you need to head back to top up again, which should be more than plenty of time. Or, if you really like taking your time, get twice your Notability in MW before setting out to get an extra week.
