Election 1895 Survey/Poll (Second Round)

If anyone’s interested, I’ve got a poll going for this Election here. It’s just a way to give a summary of where the race is at.

I’ll probably be periodically deleting the responses, to give a more accurate picture of the race/account for people switching.

I know we don’t know how exactly Influencing the Election figures into the numbers this year, but wouldn’t that be something to ask of the people taking the survey, anyways?

We pretty much do. It’s just a vote, like your election career level or Notability. So by getting to your maximum 10 Influence you are adding 10 votes that you can cast.

I think every user basically has a maximum of 50 &quotvoting points&quot: 20 via their career path, 15 via Notability, and another 15 via Election Influence.

UPDATE: I’ve cleared the response to the poll, and made a few changes: respondents can now view the summary graphs and answer text, it’s been protected to only allow one response each, and I’ve added the recommended questions. The results had the Dauntless Temperance Campaigner with 2/3 of the vote (which can’t possibly be right), so I don’t think I’ll share the first round of results.

The form now requires a Google Account sign-in, thereby blocking any FL users who don’t use Gmail. It doesn’t affect me personally, but maybe it ought to be changed to be more open, in the interest of lack of bias?

Wow, Feducci has a commanding lead, much like Jenny did last year. Also, last year’s forum polling (which I am too lazy to look up) predicted the election results quite closely (albeit, its methods were somewhat different) … it looks grim for my gal the DTC. :-([li]

While the method of listing votes wasn’t as limited and separated progress between candidates last year, I agree, what predictions we have don’t look good for either the Detective or the Campaigner. Hopefully we won’t have a repeat of last year, where the cool character won against a larger voter base split between two other candidates. Keep working, folks![/li]

And this is why I strongly suggest we just wait until the second week, when it will be revealed who is first, second, and third respectively. I haven’t taken that poll and I don’t want to bother with it.

There was only one poll last year that was accurate in terms of vote share - it was an intense, weeks long process, collected information from almost everyone on the forum, and it had a 10% margin of error, i.e. it’s final results were off by 10%. I know players who haven’t even begun the election story yet.

It’s almost like you can predict exactly how elections will turn out by knowing even a smidge about how the community tends to think.

Actually, from looking at user profiles in Who Else is Here, the Detective seems to have as many supporters as Feducci, if not more. But I know some Campaigner supporters who don’t usually show up on Who Else is Here and rarely if ever use the forum…

We’ll know where things stand next Monday.

But it’s not like we’re bitter about it, or anything.

Hey, speak for yourself. I’m pretty bitter. I’d hoped to throw a bigger wrench into the Masters’ plots, but we had to go and elect one of their puppets.

To Jenny’s credit, she wasn’t a willing puppet, but she didn’t work against them as much as was hoped.

Alright, let’s cut this short before we turn Wicked’s thoughtful survey page into another DTC discussion.

On the topic of the survey, I can’t help but notice that the Dauntless Temperance Campaign only has 29 voters, while our Campaign Document currently counts 56 unique campaigners. Indeed, our userbase seems to consist mostly of new players who don’t habitually use the forums.
I wonder what’d happen to the statistics if I were to put a link to the poll in the DTC google doc.

Nonsense, I need to gripe and moan until everyone decides the best way to shut me up is to give me what I want.

You have your tactics, I have mine.

Okay. My irrelevant comment is deleted. Now how about everybody else does the same, and refrains from bringing this sort of thing up everywhere?

I think we’re making much ado about nothing, but it’s probably prudent not to take chances when it comes to giving offense, so I’ll clean things up.
