You mean rats or jewels? I don’t think echo donations as such are possible. Maybe check out the most profitable grinds?
Echoes can not be given directly. Items can be given via the Give a Gift! card, which you can then sell, but it is not a very effective of obtaining echoes.
Echoes can be more easily obtained via other methods. I would suggest the weekly question threads as a useful source of information regarding this and other concerns you may have.
As for the Heart’s Desire Ambition, I may be able to help. Are you talking about the Direct Solutions storylet? And have you been kicked out of the Empress’s Court?
i am on the stage where i cann try to talk sense into the topsy king with the goat book. ive grinded for the items that buy new copys of the book so i can spam it, but im not getting anywhere an i think i need to try the “look closer at the book” option but i need a deluxe patent scrutinizer.
well… i thought there were options to donate valuable items other than first city coins…

Delivering the book to the Topsy King is one of those "false" paths forward for your Ambition: it gives you text and a reward, but it doesn’t advance the story. These represent your character trying an idea and not succeeding, forcing you to try another path. Searching the book for hints or going back to the Devious Bookseller will both advance the Ambition.
Continue to grind for the Patent Scrutinizer if you want, or try to obtain the Extraordinary Implications. Remember, Ambitions are meant to last you all the way through the beginning of the endgame (or as I like to call it, the end of the tutorial). Patience is key here.
