Yup, though I can’t see a situation where it would be desirable.
Edit: If you want a specifically ‘dangerous’ test, regardless of the current Wounds value, don’t think that can be done. May be better to have a branch/storylet with a set Luck percentage chance. edited by lily on 8/24/2012
No - at the moment you can only specify a difficulty test against a constant, not another quality.

I clicked ‘delete a branch’, got the General Error, clicked to go back (as instructed) and went back to… this:
Just a little bug, I suspect, but striking all the same. I can get back to my work by other means so I think it’s just a cosmetic glitch. edited by Chrysoula on 8/24/2012
Ah! I forgot it at the time, but I got one of those once too, where I ended up in some sort of twisted “Fallen London/Evolve” mash up. I think I got the error while deleting a branch as well, but haven’t tried to do so since.
Cheers for the report. We’ll log it.

There is a way to view Fallen London through the StoryNexus skin completely. Which means you have a bunch of missing functionality, but it’s surprisingly elegant :-)
Is this a bug? I moved my character between settings (and it was interesting to note that areas aren’t in settings? Or are in all settings? It was unclear) and when I moved back to the first setting from the second I got: " You are now lodging at Astromantica default domicile. This address allows you to keep 3 Opportunity cards in your hand."
Also, I can use [em] (except with proper <> that make the forum crash) in a storylet branch title, works a treat until you choose the option, then you get the code instead of the effect. Think I saw this with other markup, too. edited by Chrysoula on 8/26/2012 edited by Chrysoula on 8/26/2012
Chrysoula: cheers, we’ll log.

Gordon: I’ve had a careful look and I can’t see anything different about it. Can you confirm whether it happens on the root, or only when the character picks a branch? And if you clone it, does it cause the same issue? And if you manually create something identical in terms of quality requirements and effects, does that also cause the issue?
Not exactly a bug but maybe worth noting? If you make a card as part of the Opportunity deck, all action costs are set to 0. If you later recycle this card to a Pinned card, the action costs remain 0.
Also: Cloned cards require Key of Dreams 1 by default but cards created the other way do not.
Furthermore! Areas and Opportunity cards! If you get an Opportunity card associated with a specific area, it says it can only be played in that area (on mouseover) but that text is lying! You can still play it! (I am personally okay with this, and may cry if that goes away since that starts limiting game design even more and forces Opportunity decks to be tragically generic which limits the kinds of stories that can be told).
I admit, I’m puzzled by the design decision to not put in a direct way (other than setting shifting) to force a hand discard. Is the reasoning behind this discussed somewhere?
Chrysoula: We don’t allow a forced discard for the same reason we don’t autodiscard cards when the player becomes ineligible. If you have unplayable cards in your hand, your experience is suboptimal but probably fixable. If cards unexpectedly disappear, it can be hard to debug and sometimes plot-breaking. (In early FL, when we had autodiscard operating, it was possible to equip a stat-increasing item and find the card you wanted had disappeared from your hand when your stat went out of range.)

The ‘domicile’ thing: FL-style Lodgings are in the code, and settings can have default lodgings - but you can’t do anything useful with it. We’ll lose the message.

The KoD requirement is a relic of an earlier time when all new cards had KoD by default. We’ll address.

Gordon: I’m going to delete the discussion about this to keep the thread clear. Could you sequester the problem card somewhere safe, recreate it manually rather than via cloning for your own purposes, and we can look at it later? edited by Alexis Kennedy on 8/27/2012
Just received the beta e-mail and tried accessing the tools. The URL provided in the beta document redirects to /s when using Firefox 3.x (even when typing the proper URL I get in Chrome). It does work when using Chrome though.
EDIT: interface mishap when creating a world. If there’s an error, the whole form is cleared, ouch. Also, can’t use “Someone’s Sandbox” as the world name because of the apostrophe? :( edited by leokhorn on 8/30/2012
Just got the tools and started playing with the tools, following the ‘quickstart’ instructions. For some reason, I can’t seem to select an ‘image’ for my cards or qualities, or anything, really. The picture is just a broken jpg, and the ‘image’ gives me a place to type into instead of a drop-down menu with image options. Have I missed something obvious?
If it matters, I’m on chrome, and on a mac.

The URL provided in some of the documents was behind the times - it’s been updated. It should work now.
Creating a world - your world’s name needs to be letters, numbers and spaces only.

You have to type in the name of the image you want to use. Take a look at the ‘icons’ link in the amber bar to see the ones we currently have. We’ll be adding to them as time goes on, and we’re planning to let people upload their own images (with some restrictions) as we develop the platform.

Ah, I see. And when I initially typed in “mask” I must have put a space after it or something which threw it off. I mostly just didn’t know where to find the list. Thank you for the prompt answer to my obvious question!
I’ve run through the little tutorial in the quickstart, and I’m enjoying the behind the scenes view if nothing else.
When my character becomes troubled, the text is “You now have 1 x Troubled”. How does one get the more descriptive text about quality changes, like “You are now Troubled: 1!” The current text implies that “Troubled” is an item of some kind.
The quick hack is to Set the Quality instead of Change To.
The more complicated and flexible way is to use Quality Change Descriptions. The full guide has details. One warning: QCDs don’t handle Qualities that go up and down well. They seem to work best with Qualities that only go in one direction.
I’m sorry to have to ask a stupid question, but I noticed in the Reference Guide that the option to change a user’s permissions to Editor or Contributor should be somewhere on the Worlds tab, but I cannot find it anywhere in my Sandbox world!
Could someone tell me where I /should/ be able to find it, if it is implemented, which I suspect it is? Thanks!

Our mistake - it’s not yet implemented, sorry. If you have beta access and want to build a team, send us the email addresses of the people you’d like to have access (along with your name and world).
