Connected: Rubbery Men Rework in Progress

Merdaine, fun fact, conflict cards that don’t auto-discard when you don’t meet the requirements are bugged! And as such should be reported to support@failbettergames.com.

I just attended a party and played the Rubbery Entrepreneur card with Time Passing 5 with no effect - but didn’t get the message saying my favours hadn’t changed. Would that message not appear if I currently have none or has the option been changed?

I think you need a favour in order to see that message.

There’s a chance to get one at TP 5, but not a grantee. At TP, on the other hand, you’ll get one for certain.
With all these changes, my advice is to do a check on the Wiki first. It can’t always be up to date, but it offers a great help and, if you see something wrong, it’s best to leave a message there or here, on the forum.
I’m sorry for your bad luck with it, but you did provided a valuable check!

He’s noting that the usual unlucky result of &quotrubbery favors remained unchanged at x&quot didn’t appear. perhaps because he has 0 favors, or perhaps for some other reason.

I’ll go to check myself as well, since i actually have rubber favors, and if it just only appears when you have more than one favor- i.e. you won’t get told you didn’t get it unless you were at greater than one favor- then that would explain it too.

I’ve attended 4 parties since the change:

In one of them, the TP 5 option gave me a Favour (I had 3 at the time).
In the three other parties I got no Favour on TP 5, but:

  • When I had no Favours to begin with, I saw no message regarding Favours: Rubbery Men.[/li][li]When I already had 2 Favours, the message was &quotFavours: Rubbery Men remains unchanged, at 2&quot

In all 4 parties, the TP 2 Rubbery option provided a Favour.

So, I don’t know the actual odds, but it seems that the TP 2 option always provides a Favour, and the TP 5 options sometimes provides a Favour (and if it doesn’t, you’ll only see a message if you already had some Favours).

After gaining a favour from the later option, I attended another party and got the message at Time Remaining 5 that my favours had not changed.

It looks like I can raise about 30 levels a week if I focus entirely on raising their connections via the flit and opportunity cards. So it looks like I should be able to raise my connected quality to at least 130 before the transition hits.

I was am Amberine before the changeover. Now, I am Renown 32 and God knows how much grinding to get to 50, if it’s even possible.

This does not please me.

Reaching an amberine isn’t actually that far. it’s only level 150, or 6300 cp. That sounds like a lot, and it kind of is, but at 15 cp an action- using conflict cards being the default assumption- it’s only 420 actions. (though amberine continues from there, i’m assuming you weren’t ludicrously high). renown 40 is the actual highest relevant teir, and you’re not so far from that- at 21 cp per batch of 7 favors, you’ll only need 14 batches to hit 40. while it’ll take a lot to get to 50, it won’t take that much to get to 40.

I usually arrive at the party punctually, talk with the Rubbery Man, do a random 1 time action, do a stately dance hoping to get a Dock favor, help the Rubbery Man use a fork, and give the Brass Ambassador a contract to boost Hell. Overall, a productive party.

It is a bit ironic that a Society event is the best place to get Rubbery Favors.

It still feels somewhat unfair to reach the max connected level in terms of its respective title, only to find that it accounted only a fraction of your renown level after the transition. Couple this with how opportunity cards are not a reliable action and that raising renown post implementation is such a tedious affair, It is quite natural to be a bit frustrated.

True, and i wish grinding renown were easier than it is- or at least felt easier, even if that feeling were an illusion. To be fair though- aside from 50, which represents such absurd renown as only a legend could achieve- the kind of thing you’d get through an active grind, like those people who have 1000+ levels society- he did receive the max renown in terms of its title, too.

Those statements aren’t quite accurate. The conversions only required around 320 Connected at most for Renown 50, and while he had the highest Connected title he did not have Renown 50 and so lacked the highest title there.

I was saying excluding the renown 50 one- which in my opinion barely counts, as &quotOne of us&quot is no &quotThey say it was you who stole the sun&quot, and generally was meant to represent long, exceptionally potent freindships mainly aquired through active efforts to curry favor or persistent play without calling in the favor- in other words, a token prize for the people who really focused on it- 25-49 is the highest title.

It’s regretable that he didn’t get 40- as that represents the last materially rewarding teir- but i’m not of the opinion that it’s altogether unfair.

I am hoping that the Urchin update will bring Renown items for some of the existing Renown factions, too. I finally got Docks and Criminals to the point where I can (soon) get the tier 2 Renown prizes, if they release, as well as the tier 1 Tomb Colonist prize.

Hey folks!

I missed the last couple of change overs as I’ve been away a lot. Looks like I’ve got some reading up to do! Anyway, I know there aren’t any fixed numbers or anything, but does anybody know roughly how much connected I might need in order to get 50 renown? I already have a pretty high Urchins connection (278 and counting so I’d hate to miss out on this one, especially as I’m an extraordinary mind - judging by our rubbery friends, I’d be locked out of nabbing the top-tier after the switch.

So far, the general rules are renown = (connection level - 21)/(6 or 5, depending on the faction). this sets the top payout to 321 or 271, depending.

Oh no… I really wish there would NOT be any more Renown items at high Renown levels. As shown above, it may take more than a year to get those items if starting from 5 Renown (&quotCarnival’s sideshow Renown&quot). So grinding for all factions over a year and never being able to use the Favours, because I’m hording them only for Renown would be very frustrating. Very.

Just think of THIS:
Conflict cards are undiscardable. They show up when having 5 favours of some faction. But above Renown 15 you need 7 favours to raise Renown with connection items. So from Renown 15 to Renown 40, I’ll get stuck with non-discardable cards in my hands when reaching 5 favours and waiting for proper cards to give additional 2 favours. All year long, when climbing the tedious Renown scale to get that item, I’ll have to bare cards blocking my slots. And if I’m trying to raise 2 factions at the same time? 3 factions? Conflicting factions?
