I’d really like to see some of the “Exploring the Festive Season” options with hidden lacre caps (where you can’t get any more out of the storylet because it only gives more if you’re below X) updated to be grayed out when you’re above that cap. I’ve screwed up my selection multiple times and it feels pretty ridiculous to have to check the Wiki every single time…! At the very least the cap could be annotated on the option.
Like, given that people are going to be checking the Wiki, why not just make it so that the capped actions aren’t available if you’re not going to get anything out of them? In gameplay terms I really don’t think the current setup has any benefit, especially since most of the storylets set up this way are useful the first few times before you hit their hidden reward cap and will therefore have already been seen by the player.
They’re back at it again! This time it looks on purpose too, there’s new support options and the text is calling it a rematch.
Don’t miss out on a free point of lacre, donate at least one thing. Although if you are currently missing an Epilogue card, you may still have donations on the books.
I never got any Epilogue card and my Supporting qualities were still there.
So I hope y’all are supporting the Fisher-Kings this time 'round? Can’t have those d____d cheats from the Regiment winning again! Not on my watch! (Also, Slivvy might call down storm and thunder on London if the Fisher-Kings lose again…)
The status of the current snowball fight is tracked in the Snowball storylet in Spite. Currently the Regiment is winning, with Balance around 60k.
If you didn’t get the cashout card after the previous round, your Supporting quality carried over; it should still be in your Myself tab.
You should be able to draw the cashout card again after the current round concludes on Wednesday 14th.
The reward for participation also includes one point of Taste of Lacre (worth up to ~44€ in the Nadir) and 2 CPs of Someone is coming (~4€).
The combined value of the participation reward is actually exceptionally good: around 110€ for just two actions (one to join the fight, one to cash out). So it’s definitely worth to spend just one action on the fight.
It’s also worth supporting the winning side up to 8: 7 extra actions for ~70€ in additional rewards (8 Aeolian Screams, 1 more Taste of Lacre, 1 Urchin Favour)
On the other hand, you don’t get any additional rewards for supporting the winning side beyond 8, or for supporting the losing side, so you should only do it if you care about helping one of the Urchin factions for roleplay reasons.
All the card said was “You now have one rookery password” and that was it.
It was also very unclear who was winning and by how many points. In terms of RP, I was hoping for something about the Fisher Kings since it was such a big deal they started the fight back up, but again there was just nothing about it.
I have never seriously taken part in these, because I always assumed they were for early to mid-level players. The reports on winnings would seem to confirm that.
I went through the trouble of adding the history of the snowball fights to the Wiki, and I stumbled open an important discovery. The Fisher-Kings are correct: the Regiment cheated.
Snowball fight progress wasn’t reset properly in-between the fights in December. The second and third fights didn’t start in the middle at 50k, they started where the previous fight left off, favoring the Regiment. According the Wiki records, the second fight on its own actually had a net-change in the direction of the Fisher Kings.
Had the score been properly reset it would have been scored as a Fisher King victory. It was recognized in-game as a Regiment victory only because of the defect in scorekeeping procedure.
