I just acquired a ratwork watch. In the strangest way. I had taken SiC right down before logging out. When I logged back in, I got the kind of screen you have when you’ve clicked on an access code (text available on request).
When I clicked through, I was back on the Spite page and the drunken rat had re-appeared. Lo and behold! A ratwork watch.
Anyone have any idea what happened there?
After a grueling weeks-long grind to raise Scholar of the Correspondence to 10 at the Empress’s Court, I had just about given up hope of drawing Skin of the Bazaar before Christmas in time to change my destiny, but lo and behold, I just got the card not five minutes ago. Looks like there will be something beautiful for me this Sacksmas :D
also congratulations to everyone before me and all those that post after me!
Same as Louffles! Opened my 92 packages and managed to get some SotC and the rest to 10 was achieved with a bit of writing. In the meantime I did some conversions and reached MW 32 to get Nota 10 just before:
EDIT: Renown: Rubbery Men has increased to 40 - SSOSSOFFOOROSSTH! :D
EDIT #2: Let’s edit this again, shall we?
Renown: The Docks has increased to 40 - Known in the distant corners of the Unterzee!
Yay, now for 7 more and a fast trip on the Zee!
EDIT#3: Oh, got a special vial of someone’s B___d! Can’t wait to trade it for a very special book!

I have, after many years of pursuit, reached the current end of the Ambition: Nemesis storyline, and I must say, one of the bits of writing toward the end was so elegant that it gave me chills.
“It began with a murder…”
A wonderful and precise evocation of the anger that has driven the character this far.

I am now a proud owner of a marvel of the zee, a ship that can travel underwater! I hope this "ship" won’t just dissapear(along with my crew :() when I decide to travel out NORTH again(not to avid horizon, of course only fated people could go to the Avid Horizon again).
At last, a monstrosity has perched itself on my mantlepiece. A monstrosity I made with these very hands using my faithful animal friends for spare parts. I travelled to the unknown islands and confronted the Fleet of Truth, braved the depths Below and hunted the lashing waves. Finally, a Bifurcated Owl!
And, believe it or not, not five minutes later! Inspired by the story of Ragnar Degenhand I decided to try and pilfer a few coins from the pockets of a certain rat… only to find a Ratwork watch!

RNG managed to delay this few days, but the Unexploded Mine is mine!
Upon reading about how people struggled to attain the Skin of the Bazaar card I decided to hunker down in the Streets and try to draw it myself. Fully prepared to wait out the weeks and months for it.
I got it in 7 days. Oops.
After tragically losing my first one in a fistfight with a well, I finally have a new classic short story!
I’ve a lonely Coruscating Soul.
At long last, a Bat with Attitude (and No Recorded Uses). I think I’ll call her La Flemme:
(kindly posed by a Greater Noctule, the stroppiest European bat)
The RNG has been kind with my card flipping. I have a very full deck with all lodgings acquired, and two slots taken up my mood cards. Yet, I managed to draw the salt weasel card within hours of camping in Ladybones. Just a week or so later, I drew the Below the Neath card and got a portfolio of souls from a rare success. (Yes I know I can make one in the Side Streets, but I don’t really see the point of doing so for my collection.) This is somehow making me ridiculously happy because there are next to no other regular sources of portfolios of souls.
Wow, big congratulations! And it’s nice to know that the rare success is still available, but you happen to know which option you used?

Thank you! I’d wondered if the rare success was a myth as I’ve drawn it so many times with the normal result. Got the rare success from the second option, "Go and see what else you can find."
2 mood cards in a single hand??? The RNG is indeed very kind this season:D
Not to me!
sobs quietly
As of recently, I’ve finally joined the ranks of the Extraordinary Minds!
Finally got my Fluke-Core. After I go back to get my last Fecund Amber, I can be rewarded with the gift of never having to go to the Nadir ever, ever again.
Cider brewing progress has reached 90%! My current total wealth sits at 144,124.30 echoes. The current greatest contributing item pile is my 176 Coruscating Souls (55,000 echoes). The second greatest contributing item pile is 2,146,461 Nevercold Brass Slivers (21,464.61 echoes). At my current grind rate I expect to hit 100% around the end of March and to likely make the final purchase mid summer after earning enough to spare my Ubergoat and a few pieces of equipment (if I can wait that long).
Wow, That’s really impressive Individual! I’m pretty jazzed myself- Friday night I FINALLY got my mood card. Which meant that, this morning, after gathering the materials, raiding the couch cushions and my laundry pockets to fund fate purchases, and petting my Ubergoat, I finally did it- I reached Scholar of the Correspondence 21- Courier’s Footprint!
What really makes me happy about this is I managed it without being an Extraordinary Mind- I’m actually a shadowy specialization primarily. The mood added a particular level of drama, as last minute internet issues and miscalculating the amount of Aeolean Screams almost put the kibosh on the whole project. This is really the last BIG grind I was waiting to finish. The connections are fine, but AFAIK Criminals because its broad cap is 7*renown the highest possible grindable level is currently 44 (200+54 from items + 15 from Invisible Eminence 269, 270 is 45 renown). I imagine I will hit a similar barrier with Renown- The Docks, Rubberies, and Tomb-Colonies eventually. I could theoretically get beyond this with a mood card. But given there’s absolutely no way to grind favors reliably within the timeframe of an hour, I’d be limited to one per mood card, which is a pretty long, painful process.
Which is a shame, because I had once been at the title cap for connections before the rework, and I hope to someday to be able reach that level again. For now, that just leaves hopping on the Cider train and waiting for more scraps. I still need 3/4 3200 scrap items. I should also probably go to jail to meet a certain someone. But I’ve slain my most coveted end-game grind dragon. The RNG has finally granted me victory.
