And you won, as expected (I’m back to a Contest of Strength).
Now, I’m wondering: if I can’t challenge anyone above me, whom am I able to challenge, as I’m at the very bottom ? Should I look for contestants outside the list ?
You don’t have to issue any challenges, but you’ll receive rather a lot of them. But if you feel like challenging people outside the Queue, that’s no problem. It might even speed things up a bit.
Ready for Mr. Todd at Blood
Shadowcthuhlu seems to have left the Queue. They still haven’t accepted my challenge, and it’s been nine days since their last forum login. So I think we need to recruit another botanist.
Is there anyone who’d like to swap into Shadowcthulhu’s place, either for a Rosette or the Seeking betrayal I offered? Doomlewa, perhaps? I feel a bit bad about trying to poach people from the second Queue since that will delay its start, but we can’t continue without a seventh participant.
Personally, I’d give them a few more days before I’d be willing to swap. I’d hate to spot-jack if it turned out they were just in the middle of some emergency.

Back and am now at a contest of mysteries.
That’s my cue to issue you a challenge to a contest of mysteries then.
Beaten by NiteBrite and then beat Katarina again.
In leiu of shadowcthulhu, can Evariste not now be the acting bottom-of-the-list? Do we really need a seventh anymore?
Do we really need a seventh anymore?
Unfortunately, yes. There are six stages of the Tournament. Imagine that there are six of us, and we’re each at a different stage – so Evariste is seeking a Contest of Strength, I’m seeking a Contest of Cunning, and so on. No one can challenge anyone else in the Queue, since we’re all at different stages. In this situation, there’s no way for Jack to win the final Contest.
We can keep going for a bit, but eventually we’ll end up stuck like that, at different stages.
In botany, as in so many other things, seven is the number.
Incidentally, it’s been seven days since Shadowcthuhlu last accepted a challenge. If we don’t hear anything by Wednesday, would everyone be happy with swapping in a new member? And would that be alright with you, Doomlewa?
It won’t actually inconvenience Shadowcthuhlu as they wanted a betrayal, not a Rosette. I actually sent them the name of the person to betray six days ago, and I’m still happy to go through with it. I’m sure there’s a reason why Shadowcthuhlu hasn’t been able to participate.
Also, I accepted Katarina’s challenge, so she’s back at the Contest of Blood. I’d challenge Evariste, but it looks like he’s away from his lodgings just now.

I’d be fine with it if he doesn’t return by Wednesday.
Its possible to do it with six if the bottom tiers, strength and cunning, can successfully challenge others outside of the queue. Possible since these lower levels have a wider player base, but its not guaranteed fast victory.
I’m sitting around in voices, I can’t remember if Jack is in beauty or not. Probably. I lost track.
I’m in Voices, actually.
…I accepted another challenge from Denubis because I was being careless and am an idiot sometimes.
I do have a challenge outstanding to someone outside the queue, though, so hopefully that’ll get accepted.[li]
EDIT: And, I am back up to Beauty.

Shadowcthuhlu accepted my challenge this afternoon. Hopefully Evariste’s also been challenged, and we can try to pick up the pace again. Doomlewa, thank you for offering your help.
My betrayal was accepted
And sorry about being gone, both a vacation and interent troubles kept me away
A heads up, I will be out on vacation through the 22nd, but I should still be able to check my invites once a day.
A capital idea and I should be delighted to join in the fracas! (though currently aboard my Zubmarine & I am unsure if allowed to accept challenges until my return…)
Dr Octagon
Welcome, Dr Octagon. I’ve added you to the second Queue, which now has six members. Once it gets one more, it can start. Please check this thread every two or three days, or once a week at the least: so we can start reasonably promptly once the seventh person arrives.
Is anyone in the second Queue interested in taking on the glamorous administrative tasks, like randomising the list and checking up on people who haven’t been heard from in a while? Or if not interested, merely willing? There’s no salary, but the improved karma will make you more appealing to small furry creatures, such as kittens. Possibly.
I have a plant and have not done anything but grow it and accept a couple of challenges. Now I know how it works I would be delighted to be part of the Botanists for Social Justice.
