Hi! I’m a PoSI for more than 5 months now, and I still have a lot of things to do. My current goal is to clear (accomplish) gold storylets in Bazaar side streets for the meantime. However, PoSI items are quite hard to acquire. Is there any (non-luck based) grindable way to get these PoSI items?
[ul][li]Personal Recommendation[/li][li]Legal Documents[/li][li]Whirring Contraption[/li][li]Cellar of Wine[/li][li]and a Lot of Echoes
[/li][/ul]So, for my info, I recently acquired a 5 card lodging (Spire Emporium) through high-end thieving at Flit and using them at Bazaar Side-Streets. My base stats are W124, S109, D131, P146. Currently I am saving 1 Mood card in my hand (dusty bookshop). I still haven’t used "rainbow or offerings" storylet.
As for my current methods, I currently obtain Personal Recommendations through "Polite Invitation" card, but of course, I need to wait for that card in my deck to show (which takes time, especially when you are not residing in a lodging that possesses "remote address" quality). This is the same for Money-Making. My first way to obtain money is through trading CoC (from Dramatic Tensions) in Tomb-Colonists, which in my perception, a bit of a luck-based system (since I also need to wait for the tomb colonist card to appear before I can use one CoC, regardless of how many CoC I currently have). My second way to obtain money is through Veilgarden’s "Shake down your agent", which is for me, a faster (but costly) way to obtain money. BTW, I needed money for 5 Book of Hidden Bodies (Respectable Landau), and… well Overgoat (not really a PoSI item, but it has some really awesome watchful stat).
So yeah, is there any (fast and efficient) way to gain these items through grinding (except Fate)? Any tips and advise would be very helpful to me. Thanks in advance! edited by Bryan_James16 on 1/9/2018
Whirring Contraption: You can exchange your Dramatic Tension for these in Wilmot’s End.
Cellar of Wine: You can upconvert Wine items, but that requires Church favors. Alternatively, you can repeatedly breed a Hound of Heaven for the Bishop of Southwark in the Labyrinth of Tigers. This will require a ship. It will also generate Church favors, which you can then spend on upconverting more Wine. If you are a Monster Hunter, you can earn bonus cash on the side.
Echoes: If you are not spending Fate, then grind Affair of the Box. If you are willing to put down a one-time outlay of Fate to permanently unlock a better grind, then use the Soul Trade to become a Spirifer.
If you’re willing to optimise the heck out of things, once you get a couple thousand echoes and advance the Persuasive storyline, feeding orphans to tigers works best. The more orphans you can pack, the better the EPA, but the difference between about 7.5k and 1-2k initial investment is something like 2.1EPA to 1.8EPA - so it still works out to better than even spirifage in most cases.
All I would say is don’t be in a hurry and it will all sort itself out in time - Fallen London has a pace by design, indeed the economy is based around that pace. As mentioned earlier Legal Docs can be gained from the Wilmot’s end ‘Business in Wilmot’s End’ Carousel as I recall - if you accept the pace and dont try to rush everything at once it all works out fine. I usually set my self a goal and work to achieve it before setting the next one - this usually works well for me unless I forget half way through what the goal was and start something else eg: get scholar of the correspondance to 10, or get 50 permits for a bazaar house etc. These things can take ages, and that’s the way it’s meant to be I imagine - just enjoy the ride imo.
Also, be aware optimization-wise that many of the Side-Streets items add a new opportunity card to your deck, many of them are not very good, and they cannot be gotten rid of.
That may not be important to you, but if it is then you should approach the situation with a bit more caution than you otherwise might.
