Which, y’know, given the other thing… what does that mean about it now?
How achieve Boatman Hat?

My assumption was that the Department is controlled by Cups-acting-as-Mirrors, since from the sound of it the real Mirrors vanished a while ago.
Getting the hat requires losing at chess, easily done by making several errors earlier in the story.
Last chance to unlock this if you haven’t yet - in less than 12 hours there’ll be a new story and a new Season!
I just got the chance to play this, it’s one of my favorites now. Straightforward mechanics, good characterization, and intriguing lore. My Nemesis character has a lot to ponder about after this, and I surely hope the masked woman will make a reappearance in the future.
Now, I got a few questions: did anyone choose to remain in the boat when the opportunity showed itself? If so, was there any ending unique to having fewer clues? Or would you get the final sixth clue regardless of your choice at that point? I figured from the warnings that you can only get the sixth clue if you choose to get off from the boat, then noticed that the ending choices available to me required six clues.

I chose to stay in the boat; but it was very clearly labeled during my choice that I have all the clues I need to progress the story. I played it just today, so the disclaimer might’ve been added later.
I might be mistken but I think all that differs is that I got cut out from some quite juicy lore.

First of all: Thank you! I haven’t seen the text for choosing to remain in the boat before even after checking many journals, I was almost convinced nobody will pick it lol
I just checked your journal against mine, the result text of "Offer him a complete fabrication" that you have in your journal differs from the one I got, so it seems my theory is correct that your decision at that point can affect your ending! Here’s the ending I got for comparison, of the same choice. Oh, and if you don’t mind me asking more question, did you also get…
…a Night-Whisper and a Favour in High Places from your ending?
According to my notes the disclaimer has always been there, and it’s technically correct that was all the clues you need to conclude the story, but choosing to go to the Far Shore did give me an extra clue. Perhaps you can check what your Clues to a Controller quality is at? It should be still under Progress category of Myself tab - concluding the story didn’t wipe mine, at least.

Now that is interesting! I love that the choice affected the end text; lovely. Thank you for sharing this with me!
I checked my clues, and it is four. I wonder where did I lose another one, huh.
As of the reward… I am so sorry, but I really do not remember what I got :/
