More like ~12000. (11.7k round up, right?)
Yeah yeah. I forget the exact number and only stored the 2 most significant digits :P
It is a seemingly random and specific cost, though. Wonder if it means anything.
Well, obtaining it is worth it. Forgotten Quarter expeditions become easier, and the Overgoat card becomes much more profitable.
Also, goal-wise, you can go for the five-card lodgings (much cheaper at Christmas but no harm in grinding early) which also make several expeditions like Cave of the Nadri and Flash Lays at Veilgarden easier.
Grinding Notability is also interesting, but you have to have good BDR (Bizarre, Respectable, Dreadful) score to progress.
Fate-wise, buying Flute Street will open up some very interesting opportunities in Theological Husbandry and animal breeding. It is also lore-heavy.
I went sailing on the zee this past week to gather research notes. I have over 1000 pages for two of the types and just under 600 of the third. I made it back to my lodgings to orgnaise it all only to see that the University option still is unavailable. I then checked out the University itself to see if I am once again welcomed already and see some of the options come up as saying I am “Unwelcome at the University - Respected Academic”. Does that mean I have already been welcomed back in? It’s very unclear.
If you are capable of doing basically anything in the university, you have been welcomed back in. (Though you still lose quite a number of options)

Thank you.
Rereading some of the responses, I see things I have missed. I only have 1 Mark of Credit for the Iron Republic Safe Conduct. Looking into that, I have Counting the Days at 13 so I need to get that up.
The Mind of a Long Dead God intrigues me. I believe I touched upon that once as that name sounds familiar. I forget offhand what my Stormy Eyed quality it but my best guess is above 7 but not much more.
I still wish to work on the Correspondence Stones and my Profession so I will work on those for now, as well as the Counting the Days quality.
That’s what the quality means.
- When the quality has a value of 0 (or if you don’t have it at all), then you are "A Respectable Academic".[/li][li]When it has the value of 1 you are "Out on your ear" (i.e. you’ve been kicked out).
In short, if you’re "A Respectable Academic" it means that you’ve already re-established your academic reputation (or that you’ve never lost it in the first place).

Have you been expelled from the Court and become a governor at Port Carnelian?
As BlabberingMat mentioned, you can also specialize. If you’re unsure how to do that, raise the desired status to unmodified 200, and visit Unfinished Business at the matching starting area to check on the other requirements.
I have become governor at Port Carnelian. I’ve run through that twice now.
I am also working on grinding my Shadowy stat up to 200 since that is my preferred. I’m also working on gaining favour with Criminals to do the Fashionable Caper in the Flit. I am at 14 currently out of the 25 needed in renown.
I seem to be locked out of investigating the Correspondence Stones? I have Scholar of the Correspondence at 7. There doesn’t seem to be too many options for actions I can do. Since I am no longer allowed in the Court or the University (I suppose?), there does not seem to be a lot for me on this quest.

If you have “Unwelcome at the University - Respected Academic” you should be allowed in the University. I suspect the confusion comes from most of the University storylets locking after you finish the story there.
I suspect part of the confusion comes from the quality being named “Unwelcome at the University” even when its status represents you being welcome at the University.
To raise Scholar of the Correspondence, you can discuss Shadowy Dealings at the University. Incidentally, this is where you also grind the final levels of Counting the Days. There are places all over London to grind these levels. You can also get “Something Nice for Yourself” from the same grins - useful at Sackmass!
Heists in general are fun, if not terribly profitable.
Yes, I am currently trying to raise my Connected: Bohemian as I never opened a Salon or Orphanage and wish to do so now. I’m rather cross with myself as I used to have 70 for the Bohemians and am now down to 34. Trying to raise it seems to be a pain without access to the Shuttered Palace.
As for Renown: Criminals, I have a question I’m hoping someone has an answer for. I currently have my Renown up at 17. Using the Old Bone Skeleton Key to convert Favours to Renown was fairly simple but now I need 50 Bundles of Ragged Clothing and 5 Pairs of Leg Irons. I did this once already to get the 17 Renown and the Key is asking for that once again. Do I have to keep doing this over and over? Is there a way to get those items without spending Echoes?
Yes, that’s the cost for renown increases all the way to 50.
Iron Legs must be purchased from the Bazaar. You can get bundles of ragged clothing reasonably efficiently from the Implausible Penance card, but that’s spending favors when you’re needing them for renown increase. It’s probably best to just buy those too.
You can get 22 CP of Connected Bohemians by Publishing poetry in praise of the Duchess in the Shuttered Palace.
(Note that you don’t lose access to the Palace. If you progress the story enough you might get kicked out of Court, but that’s a separate location).

Thank you. I most definitely meant the Court rather than the Palace. I had been looking for that particular action and I guess I missed it by looking in the wrong parts of the City. That will help make this much easier.

I don’t really have anything substantial to contribute, but I wanted to point out how impressed I am you got so far with a training profession, considering I’m a good ways behind you while leaning heavily on my profession item the entire time.
If you’ve been taking good care of a plant for a long time, there’s always the tournament of lilies you could go for, though it’s a bit of a grind to raise the plant if you don’t have one already, considering it’s all through oppurtunity cards.
Definitely I’d open a salon or orphanage, get a notable profession, and get back into the University if you haven’t already. Have you been to the Iron Republic yet?
I have not yet. I am working on getting my third Mark of Credit. My Counting the Days is at 3 or 4 right now.
As for the plant, I keep accidentally selling it after making a bit of progress with the story. I had it up to 8 or so once and then blindly chose the option to sell it. I was too annoyed with myself to go back to it for a while. I recently started cultivating it once more.
