April Exceptional Story: Go Tell the King of Cats

Thank you so much for the assistance, friend. I’ve completed the story, and I think I’m satisfied with the results. Honestly, I’m not sure if there is a good or bad story with regards to the Tabby’s choice. Ultimately, it feels as though he’s gone through a redemption of sorts, either changed for a second chance or to make better of the one he already has. Either way, the kitty is happy, which means my eyes are leaking again. A wonderful story, and praise to James Chew for writing it.

Two years later this story is just as good and certainly occupies its rightful place in the top! And not only because of the Cats, whom I find myself strongly alleged to. This is a very touching story of wrongdoing and fairness, dwelling in devious fantasies and facing the unpleasant realities, the treachery of idol images and easy wish-granting, and the rewarding efforts in becoming one’s better self. This is a plot good enough for an outstanding novel.
I’m happy with the choices I’ve made through the story, but one. It is weird you don’t get an opportunity to mend Ship Cat’s Kittens’ fate after returning from your journey. You have resources and connections after all, and, if not anything else, you could welcome the Kittens in one of your homes… I guess I shouldn’t have relied on the mythical King in the first place, but asking a price from the Prince felt too impudent. Now I feel the need to restart the story because I can’t live to the fact that I had an opportunity to give those lilloes a chance for a better life, and missed it.
Otherwise the story yielded an ending satisfying and heartbreaking at the same time. It’s not a happy-end, but the best possible outcome for sad and even tragic stories, and a fair consequence of the choices made.
However great the story, I still see some room for improvement. Which is to say, adding regards for the character’s relevant background, like participating in the Court of Cats proceedings, governorship in Port Carnelian, Glasswork experience, etc. Ibelieve this will make the living story even more personal and compelling.

Oh yes, I too was waiting all along that there must be more to this tabby than he lets out!

For a moment I even thought that he was that one to make a deal with the Fingerkings out of desire to become superior to his kind, this would so much suit his arrogance! But I guess it’s rather that poor thing whose skeleton can be found in the temple… Either way, I get a strong feeling that the Tabby has made a request for the King before. His poor choices through life and his selective forgetfulness speak for this assumption, and the King seems to be familiar with him.

Can a friendly soul please provide me with the full text result of “Request the King grant the Ship Cat’s petition”? There must’ve been a hiccup in my connection just when I clicked on it and after reloading, I was back at my Lodgings with the Epilogue storylet. But I have no idea what happened in the story! :cold_sweat:

edit: I eventually mailed support, and they provided me with the text I missed. :relieved:

Something I was a bit miffed about: my character, who during the course of their Ambition became an Honorary Cat, was bluntly told several times: “You are not a cat.” I feel like these lines should be changed a little bit at least for players with this quality.

Yes, sorry, I did check, but hadn’t taken that option.
